Michael Fernie emailed this morning suggesting a game that would fit into the Shoebox.

Link-a-Pix is a solid little puzzle game, where you're given a grid with numbers on, and each number represents an area of squares that should be shaded in the colour of that number.
The solution is a little like the similar Picross puzzles, in that you end up with a small grid shaded in, with a visible image in the area.

He suggested it'd be great to reuse my Platdude Pixelart images for these, but as per usual, I rebutted with the fact that the pixelarts, at 64x64 pixels, are FARRR too big to use on those sorts of puzzles.

A typical Painting With Platdude image ends up with hundreds (4096!) of Teensy Tiny little blocks that you have to zoom in on to read properly. They work in that engine because.. You can zoom in, and still see all the important pieces that you need to.
In a puzzle, however, it's better to be able to see as much of the puzzle at once as you can.
It's no point zooming into the top left, and getting that working, only to zoom out and find the other side clashes with your solution.
You really do need to "read" the whole puzzle as one, not as zoomed in parts.

And so we're back to the age old problem that I need a ton of little icons/sprites.
LOADS of them.

They'll be useful for..
A) Link-a-Pix
B) Picross
C) Default sprites for GotoJSE.com
E) Foldapuz (though likely the same Link-a-Pix and Picross puzzles)

And I need a LOT of them.
Foldapuz alone would use 8 a day, and over a year that's 2920 (+8 for leap year) images that it'll use up.

Yep...

I've said that I need these many a time in the past, and .. I really do still need them, but I've been putting it off because there's just so much to do.
I should probably do that, huh?
I'll try and make some kind of start, today, and see what sort of path it leads me down.

... In the meantime, you can Play Link-a-Pix over here.
