Two pieces of music!? Blimey!

Developments

I took a little time off from coding, yesterday, and instead spent some time with the wonderful KORG Gadget on iPad.
When I'm composing, I tend to make a lot of little ditties, and whichever sounds best is the one that gets expanded into a complete choon.
Yesterday, somehow, I ended up with two such expandable ditties, and those both got finished off and uploaded to SoundCloud.

With those two in the mix, it appears I've now managed to complete yet another full 26-track Album..
Today will probably be spent re-rendering the tracks, and uploading them to Archive.org for safekeeping.

I'm thinking that, perhaps next year, I might try to stick to a weekly schedule for doing music. Maybe a Friday? *shrugs*
Let me know what you'd like to see/hear.

Daily Doodle : Training Session

Platdude's out at the beach, practising his moves in preparation for that JNKFighters game that I keep meaning to make.
Wonder if I'll ever get around to that?!

Mailbag

Today's mail comes from TozeLeal.

What do you recommend for a guy who wants to start making indie videogames?

Don't worry about what you're using.
Having the right toolkit is essential, but much like a DIY Toolkit, the exact choice of tools is entirely down to the individual.

I tend to stick to the "Blitz" line of languages.. BlitzBasic, BlitzMax and Monkey are all from the same developer.
I've grown comfortable with those tools, and the way they work.
They're great for me, but they're not for everybody.

At the same time, though, finding the right tool isn't always about jumping about and trying different things, either. Sometimes, you need to just pick a tool, and stick with it. Learn the best ways to use it, and allow yourself time to grow comfortable with it.

Find a tool. Monkey-X, Unity, Unreal Engine, Cocos2D, anything really.. They all have free, perfectly usable editions.
Grab one, give it a try, and keep bashing away with it until you can manage to do something decent.
Don't be scared to delete and restart... Every restart is another bit of learning.

If you'd like to stuff my mailbag, (Please do!!) you can do so right here, at https://bit.ly/AGAW_Mail. Send comments, questions, game ideas, thoughts and more, and they'll probably turn up here, eventually.
