Developments

Yesterday I thought to myself, "Hey, I should maybe see about getting my WordList working again.."
And so I did..
I spent about 20 minutes or so organising Data Loading, so that the game loads the wordlist from a file, rather than every other edition I've previously attempted.

I managed to get it up and running, and all was going well, until I then tested it in HTML5, whereupon I realised that HTML5 doesn't do file access AT ALL, and had to recreate my old Image-Loader, specifically for HTML5 mode.
Hopefully, the HTML5 edition doesn't break in any way, but.. meh, whatever..

In all, it took about 3 smegging hours, to get everything working in such a way that it'll use one, or the other, depending on which Build Target I select. No fussing!!

So far, so good.
I will have to test, and retest, I imagine. Bloomin' Android's bound to break it, somewhere.
Grrr..



Apologies that the above isn't an awesome amazing imaginative screenshot, but .. it's a word list.. what do you want!!?
Each of the three words are being searched for, through the wordlists. I can easily hunt for 3 words, every single frame, without the framerate dropping, which means it's a perfectly adequate for 95% of word games.



The searches include ? wildcards, so are good for blank tiles, but I've not yet added Anagrams, which I'd like to add, but which will increase the length of time each search takes.
The WordList has been gathered from "SCOWL", which appears (as far as I can tell) to be a freely usable PD based wordlist, but I'll have to dig through all the licenses to be doubly sure about that. Let me know if you know any different!!

OtakuPunk Does Advent

If you've not been following Otakupunk's Advent Calendar, you're missing out, big time!!
