Developments

For some strange reason, whilst visiting Twitter yesterday, I kept getting an advert with a great big cog in the picture.
I kept seeing this Cog, over and over and over, and my overactive-mind decided to take it as a hint.
I officially scrapped that rubbish game that wasn't going anywhere, and instead started work on a Gearworks-Clone engine.



The engine's now working nicely, but it needs some levels.
My usual random generator was working well, except it wasn't generating nice looking levels.
As long as the pegs are there, it can create a nice cog layout scheme, but otherwise it's rubbish at coming up with peg layouts.

With ample time left to do it, I opted to make a very basic level editor.
If you head here, right now you can help build this week's game!
Stick your name in the box, doodle a picture, and submit it.
That's all you have to do!!

It can be whatever you'd like.
Large and complex.
Small and tidy.
Anything goes.

Doodle as many levels as your brain can fathom, and I'll run them through the level formatting function thing. The formatter works out if levels are usable, and adds start and end cogs, as well as figuring out bags of cogs to go in the level.

If the engine thinks that levels could work on your layout, it'll bundle the level in with the rest of the game, and use your included name in the bottom right of the screen.

I'll leave the editor online until about midday Sunday, so don't hesitate to give it a go.
