Developments

Got a new router, yesterday, for the upstairs half of the network.
There's two routers in the house. The downstairs one handles most of the stuff that's hooked up to the TV. The Apple TV, the Razer Forge, the XBone, and in a few short months, a Nintendo Switch too.
The upstairs router handles all my more techy bits and pieces. The Printer, the NAS drive and my MacMini.
Each router handles it's own Wifi network, and since they're in more-or-less opposite corners of the house, I tend to find that connecting to one or the other helps speed things up a bit.
Over the past few months, however, the upstairs connection has started to get a little ratty.

It's got to the point where drag'n'dropping a file from my laptop to the NAS results in a 0.5Mbps file transfer, and realistically that's just stupid!
The upstairs router was my very first router. It's been in the house since we first got broadband, and that was probably about 15 or so years ago.
I figured it was probably about time to say goodbye.
So yesterday I got a nice new N router. I opted against going for AC because... well, N was cheaper!!!

I expected to have to jump through a zillion hoops to get the two routers to connect together, but it was relatively painless.
The most important step in hooking two routers together, is to remember to disable the DHCP settings on the secondary router, so that the two routers aren't conflicting and trying to register a whole bunch of ports that aren't quite compatible. Instead, once disabled, the secondary router will pass all devices through to the first one, to register their IPs.
(or something like that, but more technical, and above my general "give a shit" threshold)

But thankfully, everything went well, and the new router is working a treat.

Meanwhile..
I finished off this week's ALChoon, rendered the video, uploaded it to YouTube, wrote this week's Socoder Newsletter, and also fixed my old boss's laptop.
All in all, It was a fairly busy day, yesterday, and I got oodles of stuff done.
..
... Except the Collexion. I didn't do anything to that.
