Rather than have a bunch of different posts all over the place, as usually seems to be the case here, I thought I'd create a game-specific page and dump all the reviews onto it.

BlastTrax seems to be gaining a teensy bit of attention, although exactly how much of that is due to one particular reviewer bombarding me with his over-excitement, thus making it feel like there's a bunch of excitement when in fact it's only his own excitement, remains to be seen

BlastTrax was released on August 27th, 2013, and was the 300th game added to the Jayenkai Archive! Ooooh!

The game is available from the following places.
1. If you've an iOS Device (iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad, with iOS6 or above) you can grab it from the iOS AppStore
2. If you've an Android Device you can grab it from GooglePlay
3. If you're running Windows, or have a half-decent browser, you'll find the Windows and HTML5 editions in the Jayenkai Archive.

If you spot a Review, a "Lets Play" or even just a random mention of BlastTrax anywhere, be sure to let me know so I can add it to the list. Thanks!

Reviews

Sentral Gamer.com gives it a whopping 90% "Fantastic!" score!
"you need to experience the smooth one-touch control system, fun, challenging and addictive experience for yourself and let me tell you, it???s even better than it looks!"

AppAdvice.com suggests that it's the 2nd best App of the day!
"Limber up your best thumb because this retro-themed action-arcade game is going to hit you with plenty of old school-style entertainment."

AppAdvice.com then posted a proper review, as well! (Blimey!)
"I wish that the game went with a more traditional dual-stick shooter route, having separate controls for movement and attacking."

Fr-Android.com have a lovely review, in French!
"Tout dans ce jeu semble honn??tement sorti du cerveau d???un drogu?? plus qu???autre chose, "

AppGefahren.de says....
"Sp??ter sollte man das ganze doch etwas langsamer angehen und gezielter schie??en, damit man das Level ??berstehen kann."
(Quote chosen for usage of the words "damit man"!!)

CakelessRoses posted a review!
"However I don't like the difficulty balance easy is too easy, normal is moderately easy, and hard seems way too extreme."

148Apps.com says ...
"Seriously, the minimal sparseness of the graphics combined with the visual effects at high levels makes the game a visual treat ??? something that isn???t really said about the programmer art in Jayenkai???s games!"

AppGamers.de wrote a short piece..
"F??r 0,89 Euro erlebt Ihr hier Retro-Spa?? pur."

TouchArcade.com found the game boring and repetitive..
"As a result of all of this, the game really doesn't hold up well under long play sessions. It's really ideally enjoyed in short bursts here and there."

IndieGame Enthusiast suggest that..
"For 0.99, you get a fun SHMUP with a great visual style and more content - such as an even crazier arcade mode - is on the way."

IndieGames.com wrote a brief article, too!
"There are very few people who can successfully pull off the Minter-esque look, and apparently indie developer Jayenkai is one of them."

It's been a while since I did an AGameAWeek Gold.
There's not been a lot of stand-out stuff popping up on the old time-machine. Sure there's been a whole pile of games, but nothing that's really been noteworthy, so for the most part I've kind of been ignoring this section of the site.

Today, however, a lovely little game popped up, and I spent a good hour playing the thing! Whoops!!

This coming Tuesday, August 27th I'll be releasing Game #300 in the Archive.
Holy crumpets, 300!?!!?

It's been a long trawl, getting BlastTrax finished in time, especially since I actually had to have it done by LAST week, so's it could get through Apple Review in time for the #300th!
As a result, August has been one heck of a crazy month, and I'm pretty dang tired out.

I'm currently considering taking most of September off, or at the very least a couple of weeks. I've reached a nice goal, it's time to relax for a while.
.. Plus GTAV's coming out, so no doubt that'll soak up a good amount of my usual coding time

It's time for a rest, and I'm going to take it.

There will probably still be sporadic releases, though. Sometimes I just can't help but code!
I also have a bunch of old-unfinished, but entirely playable, projects that I think should probably be in the Archive, so I'll probably add one of those each week, just for the heck of it.

See you on the other side, and follow my tweets, there may be juicy goodies popping up

BlastTrax has passed iOS Review, so all is looking good for it's target August 27th release date.
Since the game is now up on the AppStore, but currently locked tight until the release date, I thought I'd have a bit of fun with it, so I posted the following challenge onto Twitter.

With 2 hours to spare, could anyone possibly guess the original title of the game!?!

Hello, I'm Jayenkai, and in 5 days time, I'll be adding the 300th game into my Archive.
300 games that I've single handedly created over the course of the past decade.

Today, I received the following email.

"No idea if you have written or tweeted about what you have studied, but I would like to know how you got where you are now like studies at Uni or took classes. Just for interest sake"

Hmmm.. You really want to know this stuff?
*sigh*
OK.. Let's go!

For the past week, I asked people on Twitter and Socoder if they'd like to join in with a silly new game by drawing costumes onto a sprite of Idigidragon.
The results came fairly slowly, but a number of decent attempts were made.
.. Then Rockford over at Socoder sent a HUGE batch of stuff, and I had to spend a good hour or so cutting them up into little parts! D'oh!
Anyway, this is the result.

Coming up is a game that I've been building up over the past week or so.
On August 27th, I'll be releasing the wonderful game BlastTrax.
The game started well enough, but soon spiraled out of control as I realised it was much better than the quick experiment that it started life as.

Rather timely, too, as it means I can release it as #300.
But, what exactly IS #300?
Hmmm...

We're a little bit later than usual, this month, but only because I couldn't come up with anything.
This morning, I spent a little time making a new Facebook Avatar, and figured "what the hey! might as well big-ify it, for a wallpaper!" so, this is that!!

I'll try not to make a habit of making iOS Pay-For apps the "Weekend Retreat" thing, but there's something to be said for having decent iOS games that charge you upfront, rather than slamming adverts into your gameplay, and IAPs all over the damn place..
So.. Yeah.. If a game's good, it's good!!

As we near adding game #300 to the Archive, things are getting a wee bit chaotic in my Dev-folder.
Games are being started, then largley ignored, as I constantly jump from project to project in a desperate attempt to find "That special something" which will do for #300.
So far, nothing big has turned up, so, with only a few weeks until we get there, I've still no idea exactly what that game might end up being.
Hmm..

Still, it's a fun trip, and this week's game idea comes courtesy of Twitterer @GameProducer

Yet again, my lack of forward planning has resulted in me coding myself into an awkward corner. This time with NeonPlat.
NeonPlat 1 & 2 occurred on the PC. NeoPlat exists on the DS and is features entirely different gameplay mechanics. NeonPlat Adventures takes things even further! NeonPlat Classic is on iOS and uses Tilt controls.. And then there's NeonPlat Raw on Android/Windows which uses touch/key controls, but has no moving platforms.

There's a whole lot of variety for a single game!

I have, on my todo-list the words NeonPlat Extreme.
The plan was, to follow up NeonPlat Raw with a bigger better version with extra gamemodes, like how NeonPlat 2 is a bigger version of NeonPlat 1.

I'm not 100% sure where I'm going to take it, but let it be known that, somewhere along the way, it's going to happen.
If there's anything in particular that you'd like to see, stick it in the comments below.
