Playable, but... Blog

I think this week's game needs something a little more.

-=-=-

I've currently got "Ball, rolling, maze", and have set it as a daily calendar game, with random tracks and the like.
But it's very bland right now, and needs something extra thrown into the mix.
I might throw the idea over to the various chatbots and see if they can come up with anything I can add to the game.
Perhaps just a simple timer will be more than enough to add pressure to the gameplay?

Who knows.

Meanwhile...

I'm really not happy with some of the tweaks they've done to KORG Gadget.
They're not "Bad" decisions, but they very much feel like the sort of things they've done primarily for the Desktop edition of the program, and that's not what Gadget is supposed to be.
It was originally conceived as a Tablet-First app, but now it feels like they're trying their best to grab hold of the desktop DAW market, whilst still sticking to the Tablet styled interface.
And now in version 3, they're trying to mash things together in that way that Apple keep saying "This is why MacOS and iOS are different".
It's odd to have checkboxes and multi-select be part of Gadget. Trying to simply duplicate a layer of patterns is a 3 tap process instead of the single tap it used to be. Copying a single pattern is similarly a tap-tap-tap thing.
Things are starting to feel like they're meant for a mouse instead of a finger, and I personally think that's the wrong way to go.

Additionally, they've added the ability to use the KORG software instruments inside other music editors, but haven't then also included the ability to use other third-party software instruments inside Gadget. Which makes Gadget end up feeling like a cheap way to get KORG software instruments, rather than it being the wonderful musical tool that it is.

I dunno. Kinda feels like they're giving up with the DAW and focusing on the instruments. .. Which makes it all that much worse that the only "new" instruments in the latest version of Gadget are focused on playing samples.. Something that every other DAW in the universe already has.
On paper, sounds great, but in reality the entirety of the Gadget 3 upgrade seems like a slippery slope.

I did make a choon with it, though, so that's ok.
