Oops, there goes a whole entire day!!!

-=-=-

I haven't really sat down to endlessly play No Man's Sky since before the move.
The last time I tried it a week or so ago, it'd gained a really frustrating bug where if you played for about 5 minutes, it seemed to "lose" the graphics device.
The screen would completely freeze, but you could tell the game was still going on in the background.
I could hop in and out of my ship, shoot my little mining laser.. Things were definitely still going on in the background, I just couldn't see anything.
I tried to describe that in a tweet (nngh.. had to use bloody twitter) to the official account, and then a few days later an update arrived which appears to have fixed things.
Gud-gud!

There's still a weird flickering light issue when inside buildings. Not sure what that's about. Maybe I should tweet about it.

But, at least it's now playable. And I spent approximately 7 or 8 hours flying around in the game, wandering through vast lands, and generally doing a lot of not-much at all!
I discovered a crashed Sentinel ship, and gathered the bits and pieces needed to fix it up and claim it as my own. Not sure how long that's been a feature, but it was a nice treat.

Definitely need to build a nice proper-looking base at some point, rather than using the prefab blocks all the time.
Lazy Jay..

I think I might also experiment with upping the game's resolution a bit. It used to make the laptop quite warm when running it at 1440xwhatever, but now it seems to handle 1710xsomething incredibly well, without even hitting 40 degrees. Optimisation is awesome!!!

So, yeah, I might up it a bit.
I'll let you know how I get on with that.
.. and if I don't, assume it didn't go well!

Meanwhile...

I need to finish off the "Greenie Goes Fishing" game.
The gameplay's working, but there's no scoring yet. I'm not sure on what method to go for, but since all the fish are simple recolourings, it seems unfair to score based on the colours of the fish you catch. Colour-blind players would be at a serious disadvantage here.
I might make it simply size-based, then, and maybe invert the scoring, so you earn more for catching the little fishies, since they're harder to catch..?
Not sure.
Balancing will be the key, here.

... OK, close enough..
