So, the Amiga's more or less up to a stable condition.. Now, what to do with it?

-=-=-

I need to get AMOS and Blitz up and running on it. Not really sure how easy they'll be to get running off the Compact Flash, but it really oughta be something I aim for.
Once those are in, grab some Spikes and get working on a SpikeDislike for Amiga. It shouldn't be "too" hard. I mean, it's just a few chunky sprites, a starfield and a floor, right? I could do THAT much on the Amiga, couldn't I?
Hmm..
I AM out of practice, but I've re-learned an awful lot over the past few days.

Having said all that, I should probably wait for my Mouse replacement to turn up first. Not much point in struggling to do most GUI based things when there's a Mouse just around the corner.

In the video above, you'll see that it's currently taking about 30 seconds to boot. Most of that time is the time it takes to mount the Compact Flash card.
The disk is hammered for the first short while, loading in the Startup-Sequence, then performing the first few tasks. Mount the Compact Flash, Open the Compact Flash...

There's a stuttery "glickity glickty glick!" noise from the disk drive at about 20 seconds, where it finally transfers over the C/ command folder to the Compact Flash, after which the rest of the Startup-Sequence happens on there, instead of the floppy disk.
Percentage wise, the Startup-Sequence is about 5% Floppy, and 95% Compact Flash, so from 20 seconds onwards, once the disk drive stops grinding away, you can see the drastic improvement in speed.

Whooooosh!!

Meanwhile..

Sorry, there'll be no AGameAWeek Proper again, this week.
I'd like to say "All my bedroom organising took away all my time", but it's quite evident what actually happened, this week!
Amiga FTW!!!

(If I do start making Amiga games, I'll add a tutorial to get them up and running on an emulator, too.)
