The SpikeVent is over, and it's time to move on to the next year of AGameAWeek.
-=-=- On Friday, if you'd've asked me what my Next Year plan was, I honestly couldn't have told you. There's still fixings to do on the Foldapuz-Play site, and I'd love to be able to add in a set of "Previous days, Scores/Solutions" stuff. I think I have a plan for where to put those, but am currently unsure if it'll fit on the display, especially on smaller mobile devices. But that's ok. It'll work out. A few hours here and there, and things should fit together snuggly. Is there a plan for a larger scale of a bigger project for next year? Not until roughly 1am, on Xmas Morning, when Santa must've given me a very small seed of an idea, which popped into my head, and germinated furiously. Within a couple of hours, my mind leapt and churned so many thoughts that it kinda got a bit silly, if I'm honest. The general gist of the idea would be to make another (!!!) new site with another (!!!) new engine. Imagine if Browsercade wasn't "Menu, pick game, play", and was instead... A full world of little arcade cabinet. One that your top-down character could walk around. And you had a couple of coins and could play a couple of games, but that'd be it for the day. It won't be that, though. I can't come up with more than "and then go to the cashpoint and get more credits", and then it all gets a bit dull. However, in my head I can already see a very specific design for the over-arching "world". I do like the concept of having the games still be the games, or at the very least mini-games, but then an overarching (OMG?!) RPG-like world that exists around the games... That your player exists within. Maybe with a storyline...? I'm not sure how much of that I could pull-off, but when an idea pops into my head as fully formed as it has done, I think it's probably the sort of thing I should maybe look into attempting. After all, who knew I could make a form of BASIC in the Browser!?! And I managed the groundwork of that within a quite small amount of time. Yeah, it's an idea. But is it a GOOD idea? Who can say? Let's give it a codename, and a tag on the site. SX5b Then see where it goes from here.
