Yesterday a complicated set of output saw me having to trawl through the chaotic mess of SoCoder's innards, in order to find a way to shorten URLs on the front page of the site.

Regex and CSS, two of the worst things known to WebDevs, and I had to faff about with both of them.

After a good hour or two (seriously!) I managed to cobble together a minimal version of what I wanted, but a couple of hours after that, a subtle tweak by the showcase author meant that everything broke apart once more, and I had to dig back in and find a better, more permanent fix for the thing.

Everything's good, now, but there's still a few niggling issues on the site that I'd like to tidy up. One of them is whether links should have forced Bold/Underlined, or whether that should be a theme based decision.
I'm currently having to figure out why URLs get uncoloured if [b] or [u] are used within the [url] BBCode.
It's quite a mess, if I'm honest, and I'm not really sure why it's happening.
Can't quite fathom the whole thing.

It's something to do with the *{css}, so I think I need to specifically tell it "although I've said *, I don't also mean * when it's an a"
.. I'm not sure I can do that.
Hmmm...
