Moving Jay : Day Twenty : The Amiga Box
Blog
9th July 2023
The Amiga box used to house nothing more than Floppy Disks and a curious number of old PC hard drives.
Now it has Amiga Floppy Disks, and .. An Amiga!! -=-=- The Amiga was unplugged, all of its wires wrapped snuggly around it. The various scart/html cables and dongles were all gathered up, the power brick, mouse and megadrive pad. Everything together, neatly in one bundle. The Hard Drives were taken out of the box, and the Amiga and bits put in it's place, atop the layer of floppy disks. The resulting box is now about half the weight it was before. Those old hard drives sure are hefty buggers, huh..!?! Now I need to figure out where all the hard drives are going. Hopefully more of the boxes reveal little segments of leftover space that I can pop them into. Meanwhile..Assuming we're still definitely getting that bungalow (updates from the Estate Agent sure have slowed down, this week!) me and Mum sat down with an App-For-That which would let us plan out the rooms. Our measurements aren't yet final. We need to go up and do some proper measuring, once we've definitely got the place, but with the approximate numbers we've done some vague organising of our bedrooms. This is my bedroom. The layout is roughly how it currently is, so no biggy, there. Everything spaced out around the edges, leaving a nice bit space in the middle. I'll have lost those nice big shelves that go right across the wall, though, so I think I'll be going for some Ikea shelving units over the top of the chests of drawers. Maybe a smaller one over the desk, too. It all depends on the ceiling height at this point, and exactly where the door is, and how far out it swings. Mum's room is currently unknown. She has REALLY tall wardrobes which she'd love to take with her. (She's had them since the early 80's) But, again, we're not sure on the roof height of the bungalow. It did "feel" lower, but exactly how much lower, we're not sure. If she can't take the old wardrobes, we'll have to end up getting something new for her. But it's a lovely big new bungalow, and if we're buying new, we're going to have to find something extra special for her. Not just a cheapo Ikea thing. Hmmm.. Like I said, though, everything's based on estimated measurements right now. We won't really know until we've tried to fit things in, and then scream when nothing actually fits The app we ended up using, by the way, is RoomSketcher for iOS. Works well enough, and the free version allowed us to do everything we needed, though it does somewhat continuously poke and prod you to buy a subscription!!!
