Moving Jay : Day Thirty Three : Extra Planning

22nd July 2023
Mum and Uncle managed to get to the bungalow fairly easily yesterday, though the road the bus stopped on was quite busy and hard to get across, with the closes pelican crossing being a fair walk away.
Other than that, though, it was easy enough to get there by bus. -=-=- The verdict of the bungalow's condition was well enough. The current owner (son of the lady who once lived there) wasn't around, so they couldn't sneak a peek inside, but a couple of neighbours were wondering why two unknown people were studying the outside of the house, and both neighbours came out and chatted to Uncle and Mum for a short while. They did the typical "talking up of the street" that neighbours always do, and Mum was quite happy that they seemed friendly and chatty. Outside the house, the state of the windows is looking pretty darn bad, and the prospect of a costly complete-window-redux is definitely looking like the first priority once we move in. We knew this before, of course, but with Uncle studying things, he's now given us a much more specific plan of action. Windows and Doors first. Roof second. Ceilings third. And the money flows from the bank like a leaking tap!! .. I don't think there's a leaking tap, there, though, so I guess that's something. Mum asked me this morning if it's all worth it. She worried about the bank account and how we won't have anything left. But we will have something left. We'll have a lovely little bungalow, on a nice little estate full of lovely little bungalows. There's likely more work to do, but everything we can do to make the bungalow better won't be money going to waste. It'll be money going on our new bungalow. Mum struggled with that though, this morning, after seeing the state of the windows. I do hope she's not too disheartened. "Cartoon Derek and the leaking tap, movie poster art" Views 46, Upvotes 15
