Moving Jay : Day Thirty Eight : More Waiting... Blog
27th July 2023
Yesterday the Bungalow Estate Agent got in touch, and talked about the current owner's work on the property, to make it as safe as he could for us.

-=-=-

Apparently he's installed a ramp at the door, to make it easier for me. That's kinda unexpectedly nice of him!
I don't really need that much care. I know I have my issues, but they only become pronounced after being on my feet for more than about a minute or two. For short "out of a taxi - into a house" trips, I can just about cope.
Having said that, the step going into the house (when we went viewing the property las month) was quite a terrible little tiny step that I could easily have tripped on, so...
*shrugs*

But thank you so very much to the current owner for thinking of my health.

Either way, we're probably going to do a fair bit of damage to said ramp when we get the doorway redone. The windows and doors around the house are in terrible condition, and that's going to be the first priority. The whole lot..

The little "Vestibule" (as Mum calls it) at the front of the house is in terrible shape, and if we get a company to replace the door and windows, there's not really much left of the porch-like structure at all.. That's going to be a big job, I reckon.

(via Google Streetview)

I mean, redoing every single window and door in the house is a big enough job, but the tiny little area out the front is pretty much entirely glass!! Looks very Shower Cubicle-like in its overall size and shape, and once you get rid of the windows and door, there's not much left of it.
Big job..
Expenses, man... The expenses!!!

Taking a look around the estate using Street View, almost everyone has a differently styled front porch, and I guess that's something we'll have to look into when redoing things.
What shape can we get?
Hmmm...

We could really do with someone coming up with a rough estimate so I can add the cost to my budget spreadsheet, but.. Who would estimate without measurements!?!
