The interface/GUI todo-list is getting out of hand!
-=-=- There's a few JSE "tweaks" that have expanded to an insane size. The most notable of these being that I could do with adding volume controls to the engine, so you can mute the music, and other things, without having to edit the code. The main issue being, quite where and how I put those options into an engine that exists outside of the code that's running. I mean, it'd be fine to add a button on the JSE GUI, but if you export the game as a html5 project and, for example, upload it to itch.io, then .. where does the button go? And how do you access it in ALL games, without having to have a big clunky button on the screen at all times. Hmm.. Similarly, logins and usernames and things. In yesterday's blog's comments, Michael Fernie suggested using a "simple" username/password combo for things. But imagine having 20 or so of my games (which are already on itch.io), and each and every one needing you to input an username and password.. And those are all disconnected from each other, and my server, so where are those username/passwords going, in a safe and secure way? Oh, and how are you typing those in, if you've only got a gamepad in your hand!? Ugh... I do need to solve that.. Currently the best thing I can think of is to have a login in the JSE interface, but then that only works within JSE, not for the games in general. 99% of players won't ever see that. I dunno.. Kinda messy, if I'm honest! Maybe I need to play more online flash/html5 games, and see how they all handle it. I can imagine it's via the "Giant obstructing popup that makes you register before you've even started playing" method. ... And, quite frankly, that can piss right off!!! Meanwhile...We're not 100% sure they're coming to fit our new windows and doors, today. It's the planned day for doing it, but the weather in the UK is currently not the greatest weather for doing big jobs like that. Guess we'll have to see, later, whether they do it or not. We're expecting them to delay us a week or two... Maybe more, if they're busy! Once they're all in, though, the bungalow will be about 70% done. All that really needs to be done from this point is a few extra sets of Ikea drawers need to be ordered to fit the last few random bits of chaos into, and then.. ... The entire living room/dining room needs redecorated!! It's not bad how it is, but it looks almost identical to our old house, and indeed how the bungalow was when the previous owner lived here, so we really do need to change it a little. We're currently trying to decide on a colour scheme that'll work, and whether we need to replace the brick/wood thing along the bottom. Mum's adamant that it's going, but everyone who's visited has remarked on how nice it looks. *shrugs* "builder cartoon derek puts new windows on his bungalow, diy, tools, van, windows, outside," by #DrawThings Views 61, Upvotes 16
