Let's tick one of the unimportant side projects off the list!!

Amiga Tick logo sourced from a Google Search.

Over on SoCoder, Spinal asked if he could use the Splat and Binky .xm mods again, and I of course said "sure, go ahead", but at the back of my mind I was thinking "Good grief, it's been YEARS since I made a proper set of new .xm mods.."

But when I thought about it.. I have been "making" .xm mods. They just haven't been available as external files.

Every time JMTracker/JXMb creates a new piece of music, it actually does it in memory as if it's an .xm mod file.
Surely I could export that, right?!!

Two Days Later

JXMb now has an "Export As XM" button.
It's not 100% perfect, and results in a 706kb file. Which is crazy!!!
But if you open the xm file into your favourite mod editor (OpenMPT recommended!) and from there use the Cleanup button, it'll make it much cleaner, smaller and neater, when you then save it back out.

I honestly couldn't figure out how to remove samples and things like that, so you're just going to have to rely on a second tool to clean up the files, I'm afraid.
Sorry!!

Still, better than nothing, and it means that all those little JXM choons are now available to use in another form, and since you have an almost infinite number of recreations with the Random buttons, you've got access to TONS of tracks, nice and easy!

I wonder if I could do more with it, though...?
Is it at all possible to get it to generate something that could be imported into Deflemask, and then from there into various system formats!?

I'm not really sure!
I'd have to study how DefleMask stores things.
...
Could be worth playing with, though, right?!
Hmmmm...
