A Lovely Sunny Day Blog
5th May 2024
Had a chilled day, yesterday.
No coding.
Time to think and plan ahead.
I didn't worry about any coding whatsoever.

...

-=-=-

I'm going to have to write a bloomin' Music Player, aren't I?
'cos the version that runs in Javascript isn't exactly portable, and I can't rely on being able to inject JXM notes into an XM that isn't loaded into memory, as I can't access the file easily on all targets.
Going to have to make a player that has a loader that lets me inject the notes as the Mod loads.. Then handles playing the XM mod with all features intact.

Hmm.. How am I going to do that.. Hmmm..

.. and then...

JSE's also quite limited by the specific set of sounds that are available. It'd be nice if I could implement some sort of "Sound" command, with the ability to "code" sounds.
The Amstrad had a lovely Sound/Envelope engine. I bet I could do something like that..

People could "create" sounds using a set of sliders, maybe like how SFXr does, then have that saved to a string, that the engine could then "load" like it does with the Symbols and JXM melodies.

...

And then write a new audio engine that can cope with everything all at once, instead of having "The sound engine" and a separate "The music engine"..

...

.. Oh no, what am I thinking!?!
Or rather..

Oh no, what am I OVERTHINKING!?!?

Again!!

Aargh!!!!

Meanwhile...

I posted the current version of VidGen over to itch.io yesterday, so that people there could have a play with it.
So far it's had a whopping 14 views!
Oooh, excite!!!

:/

The day off, however, did give me oodles of time to write this week's ALChoon, which has turned out really quite nice, but does have a set of vocals that are going to require a specifically animated video.
Bugger.
I forgot I wasn't supposed to do that sort of thing, any more.

Hmmm..
