Layout Decisions
Blog
27th May 2024
Today I need to come up with a new layout for the Project Page of JSE.
-=-=- I *think* I've found a way to get the "Import" button to work without having to be stuck to the top of the GUI like it currently is. The button is on the main bit of HTML because I couldn't previously get a Canvas Event to import a file. Now, though, I have ChatGPT to come up with solutions, and we had a good chat yesterday about this, and it feels like there's some kind of option. This means, then, that I can lose that bar across the top of the Project Page, and will have free reign to do whatever I like on the screen. In fact, even if I DO still need to have the bar across the top, I feel like I can go a little bit more off-the-wall with how the menu works. I mean, it IS just a plain canvas, after all, and graphically I can do whatever the heck I'd like on the page. I'm not limited to a bunch of plain rectangles!! Let's go nuts!!! ... But then I also have to be able to fit it to multiple resolutions and ratios, too, so I can't go completely ape-shit crazy with how it looks. I asked Bing Image Generator if it could come up with a futuristic GUI for a music selection interface. I figured with music being bundled into albums, that that might end up being a nice way to say "I want things in groups." without saying "I want things in groups.." The result was... Well, I guess that's pretty, but .. What the heck is that, even!? Maybe less off the wall than that, huh? Meanwhile...Spaceman, Jetpack, Caves. That's the theme for this week's game. It has sound effects and music, already, but I still haven't worked out what the gameplay is. At this point it might yet end up as a generic "find the object in the maze" thing, but .. I dunno. Feels like it deserves something a bit more than that. Suggestions on a postcard!
