Spent most of yesterday trawling through a bunch of different spritesheets, grabbing sprites and creating the Asset Library.
-=-=-
So far I have 5 sheets.
1. Floors and Walls
2. Pickups
3. Characters
4. Enemies
5. Misc
Misc will no doubt expand into a bunch of different sections, and Floors and Walls might up being separate into two different sections.
The plan is to have sets of four sprites at a time that you can select and have them imported into your Symbol collection.
The library will need to be able to load these spritesheets, as well as easily pass the Symbol code into your code when you select them.
But, more importantly, the library needs to then clear out once you've selected one.
The worse thing would be to clog your browser up with images that aren't actually being used, because the asset library's all been loaded in the background.
So, yeah, progress has started. But it might take a while.
There's a menu to build. .. And we all know just how much I hate making menus!!
If you'd like to contribute something to the library, head on over to the SoCoder Thread and let your assets be known
[Dave is frantically flipping through old computer magazines, while Green looks on with a mixture of amusement and concern]
Dave: This can't be right, Greenie! All my favorite computer magazines seem to have vanished!
Green: Dave, when was the last time you actually bought a computer magazine?
Dave: Well, there was that time I needed something to prop up the wobbly leg of my desk... so, about 2005?
Green: [sarcastically] Ah yes, the golden age of print media.
Dave: But how else am I supposed to spread the word about Burrow Office? We need to get featured in all the top tech magazines!
Green: Dave, you do realize most people get their tech news online now, right?
Dave: Online? But how can I dramatically flick through web pages when I'm frustrated?
Green: The same way you flick through life, Dave. Chaotically and with a high chance of breaking something.
[Scene Two]
Int. Dave's apartment - 30 minutes later
[Dave is now on his computer, frantically typing and muttering to himself]
Dave: Okay, if I can't find the magazines, I'll make my own! "Burrow Monthly: The Ultimate Guide to Rabbit-Based Productivity"!
Green: [facepalming] Oh no...
Dave: What? It's brilliant! We'll have articles like "10 Ways to Optimize Your Carrot Storage" and "From Warren to Workspace: The Burrow Office Story".
Green: Dave, your code works fine, but people don't want to read it. Your writing is not fit for human consumption.
Dave: It's fine, Greenie. This time, I have autocorrect and a burning passion for lagomorph-inspired software!
Green: [sighs] Great. Auto-correct. What could possible go wring?
[Scene Three]
Int. Dave's apartment - Late evening
[Dave is surrounded by crumpled papers and empty Coke cans, while Green looks on in dismay]
Dave: [triumphantly] I've done it, Greenie! I've written our first press release!
Green: [cautiously] Alright, let's hear it.
Dave: [clears throat]
Attention all humans and technologically advanced rabbits!
Are you tired of your boring, carrot-less office software?
Look no further than Burrow Office, the revolutionary productivity suite that brings the efficiency of warren living to your desktop!
Green: Dave, I don't think-
Dave: [interrupting]
With features like 'Hop-to-it Task Management' and 'Burrow Buddy Collaboration Tools',
you'll be multiplying your productivity faster than rabbits!
Green: [deadpan] Brilliant, Dave. I'm sure the three remaining computer magazines in existence will be fighting over this Pulitzer-worthy piece.
Dave: You think so? Maybe we should send it to Bill, too! He'd love to see how far we've come since he was here.
Green: [muttering] I should have stayed in that bank job. At least there, there was only one bug to worry about.
