"You don't mind, do you?"
.. If the plug socket in the corner of the living room hasn't been reattached, so the router's not plugged in, none of our extension leads seem to reach far enough to connect the Router to the Cable outlet, and so we haven't had any wifi since about 9am yesterday...
"No, no, I don't mind at all. You're doing a great job!" *smiles*
...
My phone is only getting me so far, and is really rather struggling with the amount of stuff that I've been trying to do since yesterday.
If I'm honest, I think my minimal "I won't need more than 100Gb a month, I have home broadband!" contract might be screwing me over, right now.
Ack!
So, yesterday they did most of the skimming around the room, but there's still bits to finish off.
Today, then, they'll be doing the finishing finishing touches, which will hopefully include reattaching plug sockets to walls.. (!!!!)
And the curtain pole, and the blinds, and the lights...
...!!
They've done a great job, don't get me wrong. Could really have done without the internet being out, though.
Kinda dull without internet, nowadays, isn't it!?
Good grief, how did I ever live before the world wide web!?
.. Oh yeah, I just played Frontier : Elite II relentlessly!
Maybe I should play No Man's Sky for a bit..?!
I certainly ain't getting anything else done, lately.
*sigh*
[Dave is frantically tapping at his phone. Green enters, looking concerned.]
Green: Dave, what are you doing?
Dave: Trying to upload the latest ZenOffice update, but nothing's working!
Green: There's a wifi outage across all of RCHomes.
Dave: What? No! How will people experience the zen of virtual office repair now?
Green: I think we'll all survive without virtual sticky notes for a day, Dave.
Dave: But what am I supposed to do now? I can't even consult Mr. Duckello in the virtual world!
Green: Why don't you play some retro games? I remember you used to love your Gameboy
Dave: Gameboy? Greenie, that's so last century! Although... I do still have Tetris somewhere.
[Scene Two]
Int. Dave's apartment - Afternoon
[Dave is hunched over a Gameboy, frantically pressing buttons. Green is reading a book nearby.]
Dave: No, no, no! Not there! Man, this game is so much harder without the drop-position thing.
Green: I thought you'd be happier playing games again.
Dave: But it's not the same, Greenie! There's not even a Hold button.
Green: It's the way it used to be, Dave. You used to love playing it like this.
Dave: I also used to love Doom, too. But now I love Zen. And that's the opposite of Doom. There's hardly even any blood.
Green: You can still run ZenOffice, though, right?
Dave: Well. Yeah.
Green: And you can still code tweaks for it?
Dave: Yeah, but not on a Gameboy.
Green: I didn't say to do it on your gameboy. Your network's still functional, Dave, even if it isn't only. You can still code.
Dave: Where's the fun if I can't show it off to the world wide web?!
Green: Sure, OK. That makes perfect sense. Go play more Tetris.
Dave: That's the spirit. Now, find me a Flashcart so I can hack some more modern features into this version.
[Scene Three]
Int. Dave's apartment - Evening
[Dave is surrounded by empty coke cans and wires. Green looks on in horror.]
Green: Dave, what have you done?
Dave: I've created a masterpiece, Greenie! Behold, the Cola-Powered Tetris!
Green: Hack the game. That was the plan. How did you end up reconstructing the whole Gameboy?
Dave: Think of the possibilities! We could power the entire building with fizzy drinks!
Green: We have plenty of power. Just no wifi.
Dave: Don't worry, I've got it all figured out. Watch!
[Dave flips a switch, and for a moment, the contraption lights up. Then, there's a loud pop, and the room goes dark.]
Green: Great. Now we've got no wifi AND no electricity.
Dave: Aaah, but we do have a perfect opportunity to spread the word of Zen throughout the building!
Green: [sighing] See you tomorrow, Dave.
[As Dave fumbles around in the dark, Green grabs his glowing Pet Rock and leaves]
