I started two games, yesterday.
I didn't get very far with either one.
-=-=-
The first one was a bit Tetris-like. The generic space, dropping blocks, etc, etc.
I couldn't think of anything interesting to do with the gameplay, other than "Hey, it's Tetris".
It got scrapped.
The second one is a bit "Box"y. In that it's got "Box", and a large scrolling area, and then..
..
I couldn't think of anything interesting to do with the gameplay, other than "Hey, it's Box"
It also got scrapped.
Guess I have a game to write, today.
Thoughts and suggestions are welcome.
Maybe I should grab the GPD xd (my Emulation super-handheld), and play through for some crazy ideas.
[verse]
I haven't got anything planned for today.
No games. No music. No art to do.
I'm not really sure what it is that I'll make,
I guess I need some fresh ideas to spur me on.
[chorus]
Perhaps a walk outside will clear my mind,
Some inspiration that I might just find.
In nature's whispers or the city's beat,
A spark of creativity I need.
[break]
[verse]
I'll try my hand at something fresh and new,
A tale or craft I've never ventured to.
I'll grab some tools, whatever's close at hand,
And let my thoughts flow free, unplanned.
[alt-verse]
Perhaps I'll crack open that book on my shelf,
The one I've meant to read, but told myself
I never had the time - well, now I do.
Its pages might spark an idea or two.
[drop][chorus]
Perhaps a walk outside will clear my mind,
Some inspiration that I might just find.
In nature's whispers or the city's beat,
A spark of creativity I need.
[break]
[bridge]
I could attempt a recipe unknown,
From lands I've dreamed but never flown.
I'll let aromas fill my quiet space,
And try out flavours of a distant place.
[drop][chorus]
Perhaps a walk outside will clear my mind,
Some inspiration that I might just find.
In nature's whispers or the city's beat,
A spark of creativity I need.
[outro]
This empty day's a gift, I now can see,
Brimming with possibilities for me.
I'll take a breath, let my mind wander far,
And who knows what creations born may are? (<-- wtf does that line mean, AI!?!)
[drop][chorus]
Perhaps a walk outside will clear my mind,
Some inspiration that I might just find.
In nature's whispers or the city's beat,
A spark of creativity I need.
[Dave's apartment has been transformed back to its original state. The Zen Office paraphernalia is gone, replaced by an empty space in the middle of the room.]
Dave: I've been making room for the VR. It's the future, Greenie!
Green: Don't tell me you're going to try writing a VR Game?
Dave: Nope, this is just for entertainment.
Green: [skeptical] Right, because your ideas for entertainment always work out so well. Remember the laser light show at the hospital?
Dave: That wasn't my fault! Besides, this is different. It's VR!
[Scene Two]
Int. Dave's apartment - Afternoon
[Dave is fumbling with VR equipment, tangled in wires]
Dave: Just need to plug this in here and... oops!
[A spark flies from the socket]
Green: Dave, be careful! We don't want a repeat of the games room incident.
Dave: Relax, Greenie. I know what I'm doing. I'm practically Bill Gates of the VR world.
Green: Bill Gates wouldn't electrocute himself. Or if he did, he'd stop what he's doing, instead of electrocuting himself a further seventy eight times.
Dave: You don't know that. Maybe he would if he had my level of expertise.
Green: Could you not have got one of those wireless headsets?
Dave: I did have a look at those, but they couldn't render enough bunnies.
Green: Aaah, of course, the bunnies.
[Scene Three]
Int. Dave's apartment - Evening
[Dave is wearing the VR headset, flailing his arms wildly]
Dave: This is amazing! I'm in a huge tunnel!
Green: A tunnel? What's it like?
Dave: It's black! It's darkness. Amazing!!!
Green: [notices a disconnected cable] I think you've unplugged it, Dave.
Dave: Don't be silly. It wouldn't be rendering this as realistically without all the wires.
[Dave swings and hits his hand on the edge of his desk.]
Green: I told you this was a bad idea.
[Dave stumbles and falls onto his shelving unit, causing it to topple over]
Dave: I think I'm in an earthquake!! Wow, it's amazing!
Green: [sighs] I'll get the fire extinguisher. Just in case.
[As Green leaves to get the extinguisher, Dave continues to stumble around the room, oblivious to the chaos he's causing]
Dave: This is the best entertainment ever! The Zen Garden has nothing over this earthquake simulator!
