I spent most of yesterday writing, rewriting and re-rewriting the "tutorial" bit for Lesson Five.
-=-=-
I have, once more, used a ton of Claude.ai to help find the right vibe for this.
I started by writing a short piece, with a certain sense of humour, and a nice lighthearted style.
I then fed it into Claude, asking for tweaks, and got back something that, quite frankly, lost a ton of the humour and ended up extremely dry.
Much like with my experiments with getting Stable Diffusion to draw a half-decent Greenie, it seemed like I was going to have to back and forth this, until it found the style I wanted.
I wrote a bit, Claude did a rewrite, I rewrote again, it attempted to match the style, and it went on like this for, maybe about an hour or so.
Eventually, Claude.ai managed to "get" what I was aiming for, and at that point I asked it to write tutorials for days 1 to 4.
They're far from perfect, and still require a rewrite, but I think they're at the point, now, where I've got a nice platform to jump off of.
If nothing else, between us we stumbled upon a nice phrase to end each lesson.
It's time to type. Let's tap!
I know, it's not the greatest, but I figured it'd make a nice familiar way to end all the tutorials.
If you can come up with anything better, let me know in the comments
[verse]
Alright, hands in place, it’s where we begin,
See those bumps on F and J? That’s the way in.
Index fingers settle, yeah, they’re your guides,
A keyboard compass – your trusty allies.
[alt verse]
Left hand crew, here’s what to do:
Little finger finds A, a home just for you,
Ring finger on S, yeah, solid as can be,
Middle on D, it’s where it needs to be.
And F? That’s the spot, feelin’ the groove,
Anchors set, we’re ready to move.
[Chorus]
Hands on the keys, it’s where you wanna be!
F and J, yeah, they’re calling to me!
Left, right, fingertips in line,
Feel the groove, we’re typing in time!
Hands on the keys, we’re ready to go!
Find your rhythm, let the letters flow!
Anchor down, feel that beat,
You’re set, you’re locked – now type to the heat!
[verse]
Right hand, let’s get in on the fun,
Index on J – yep, it’s the one,
Middle on K, keepin' it tight,
Ring finger on L, just feels right.
And that little finger? Hangin’ out with a colon
No rush, it’ll have its day.
[bridge]
They’re markers on the map, your keyboard scene,
With each tap and click, it’s feelin' so clean.
So hold your ground, let the rhythm stay,
You’ve got the feel, now type away.
[outro]
Fingers in position, set to ignite,
Keyboard’s yours, take it into the night.
Feel the beat, make it sharp, make it tight,
Yeah, this is where it starts – type it right.
[Green enters to find Dave trying to balance a flamingo statue wearing a tutu]
Green: Balancing, today? I'm not sure that's a good idea on the thirteenth of the month.
Dave: Don't be silly! How could this be any worse than having chickens waddle through a door that didn't exist a few days ago?
Green: You can't keep digging all this stuff. The ceiling's already cracking.
Dave: That's why I've got Cola ready.
Green: To drink?
Dave: No, to reinforce the ceiling beams!
Green: What beams?
Dave: Hmm. ...
[Scene Two]
Int. Dave's Underground Network - Crumbling Dance Studio
[The flamingo statue wobbles as bits of ceiling fall]
Dave: Just needs more Cola!
Green: I'm not sure this is safe.
Dave: The flamingo seemed ok with it.
Green: The one dangling from the broken string?
Dave: No, that's the heavenly cat.
Green: This is not going well, David!
Dave: The T-Rex is helping!
Green: He can't hold up the ceiling. He hasn't got very long arms.
[More ceiling falls]
Dave: Maybe we should move the garden party... Grab as much cola as you can!!!
[Scene Three]
Int. Dave's Underground Network - East Wing
[Total chaos as statues are being evacuated]
Dave: The Mole. It was the mole's fault. His LED helmet's flickering!
Green: What do we do? The entire bunker's collapsing!
Dave: Don't worry, the flamingo's doing calculations!
[The heavenly cat crashes down]
Dave: DIVINE INTERVENTION!
Green: Thirteenth, man. It's all the bad luck, all at once.
Dave: Quick! To the backup backup bunker!
Green: The WHAT?
[Cabbages start falling through into the bunker]
Dave: Tomorrow we rebuild! "Fourteen, Construction Scene!"
Green: I think it might be safer to abandon this entire idea, Dave!
