The Cow + Pickaxe + WordGame game is about 90% done.
-=-=-
I'm writing this blog at about 10pm last night, so depending on how well I manage to sleep tonight, I might've already finished off the game, but as it stands, I managed to get about an hour of "coding" does, during the whole day.
Honestly, my head is not in a good place, due to this flu, and I found it hard to even get the little cow animating.
But I did, though.
It took all day, and all it does is wiggle a bit or spin when you smash a letter. It's about as well animated as can be expected, given my current flu-levels!
Gameplay wise, it's feeling ok, but I think I might try adding a few more words to the list, as some of them are really stupidly easy to beat.
Maybe it would be a good idea to scramble letters randomly, instead of having everything be a pre-formed word. Perhaps that'll give the player a bit more replayability in the gameplay? Who knows.
For now though, the game is .. um, let's say "functional", as I still need to draw a couple of lines and such to make it more obvious what you're supposed to be doing.
If only I could add the Suno-Song from yesterday's blog into the actual game. "Push them over to the Edge"
Right. Blog done. Focus on the gameplay, Jay.
Or more sleep.
...You've done a lot of that, today.
Get back to doing what you oughta be doing..

[verse]
I know what I need to be doing,
But today hasn't been the day to be doing,
The things that it is that I oughta be doing.
There's not been a lot of doing.
[chorus]
The cow’s got a pickaxe to swing and keep doing,
But my keyboard’s quiet. No typing I'm doing,
Letters are piling where my code isn't doing.
Just hoof-taps waiting for some kind of doing.
[break]
[verse]
My brain’s still buffering, no debug doing,
The cow moos an error, a syntax undoing,
I try to type more, but more sneezes are doing.
But I drew me a cow, so my art skills are doing.
[chorus]
The cow’s got a pickaxe to swing and keep doing,
But my keyboard’s quiet. No typing I'm doing,
Letters are piling where my code isn't doing.
Just hoof-taps waiting for some kind of doing.
[break]
[bridge]
The cow rolls its eyes, like, "What are you doing?"
It nudges the screen, but there’s still nothing doing.
I sip at my tea, but my fever's still doing,
The villain that’s throttling all of my doing,
The things that I oughta be doing.
[break]
[chorus]
The cow’s got a pickaxe to swing and keep doing,
But my keyboard’s quiet. No typing I'm doing,
Letters are piling where my code isn't doing.
But tomorrow’s a day built for doing.
[Dave sits at the computer, surrounded by his new roundels, typing frantically]
Dave: If I can just get the Effervescent Engine to process these algorithms, we might be able to see 3D fractals...
Green: Isn't that what all the bubbles were?
Dave: No no, these are DIGITAL 3d fractals. Completely different.
Green: Oh, I see. Would they work in VR?
Dave: They might do. Then you can swirl around as if in a fractally generated wonderland.
Green: Wasn't that what caused this whole mess in the first place?
Dave: Sure, but this time it'll all be contained behind screens. Or glasses. Or glasses with screens.
[Dave gestures proudly at his screen, which shows a swirling mass of digital spheres]
Dave: The Effervescent Engine can create 3D fractals that look just like the bubbles!
Green: So you're deliberately recreating the problem that caused all this?
Dave: It's like that old Pipes screensaver, only better!
Green: How is it like Pipes? It's nothing like pipes. The bubbles are floating around without any pipes.
Dave: Yeah, but each bubble contains another fractal, which contains another bubble... Like how pipes contain things.
Green: Water, maybe. Bubbles perhaps. But not Pipes within pipes.
Dave: You don't know that for sure, Greenie. Those pipes could've been full to the brim with pipes!
[Dave starts placing cola cans in various roundels while explaining]
Dave: See, look, if each bubble contains a coke can, and each coke can contains more bubbles, then we can zoom in infinitely and see nothing but bubbles and coke cans.
Green: What about Pepsi, too?
Dave: Of course not! I'm not cataloguing the complete archive of cans with bubbles.
Green: Might make for a bit of a colour change, though. Maybe each bubble can have its own brand of pop.
Dave: You're crazy, Greenie. You're actually crazy!
