OK, time to put the pressure on and push out another JSE game in record time.
-=-=-
Another game with a cow, pickaxe, mines, etc.
I wonder what kind of game I could do?
I think maybe something frantic and fast paced.
I was originally aiming for a fast paced game when I started the Diggity Words game, but the more and more I coded it, the slower the vibes of the game became.
So, yeah, maybe something faster, this week.
Could my head cope with that, in its current flu-riddled condition? I sure do hope so!
That'll be the aim, then.
Fast paced.
I'm envisioning something that plays a bit like Mr Driller, but maybe with even more of a danger to the proceedings to make it even faster paced than that was.
.. Or was that fast paced enough?
Hmm.
I wonder how frantic and colourful I can make a JSE game?
Hmmm...
I think I can see a game idea in my mind.
It might be interesting.
Or it might be delusions caused by the flu.
[chorus]
Down, down, down down down
Mine, Mine, Mining cow
Down, down, down down down
Swing with your pickaxe, swing.
Down, down, down down down
Mine, Mine, Mining cow
Down, down, down down down
Swing with your pickaxe, swing.
[verse]
Down through the mineshaft, gotta dig fast.
There's a lot of silly obstacles that lie within your path.
Smash a gem, smash a rocket, smash a flashing yellow bomb,
In the mineshaft smash it 'til it's gone, gone, gone.
[break]
[chorus]
Down, down, down down down
Mine, Mine, Mining cow
Down, down, down down down
Swing with your pickaxe, swing.
Down, down, down down down
Mine, Mine, Mining cow
Down, down, down down down
Swing with your pickaxe, swing.
[break]
[verse - rapped - airy breakbeat]
Down through the lava, down through the pipes,
Hit a rat with a pickaxe, 'til it doesn't wanna fight.
Heading down through the world that is underneath the farm,
If you look up to the top, you can still see the barn.
Going down through the mineshaft. Mine it all away.
You are happy to be here. Enjoying the day.
Your stamina keeps on pushing you through.
So swing at the dirt, and it will move for you.
[chorus]
Down, down, down down down
Mine, Mine, Mining cow
Down, down, down down down
Swing with your pickaxe, swing.
Down, down, down down down
Mine, Mine, Mining cow
Down, down, down down down
Swing with your pickaxe, swing.
[break]
[chorus]
Down, down, down down down
Mine, Mine, Mining cow
Down, down, down down down
Swing with your pickaxe, swing.
Down, down, down down down
Mine, Mine, Mining cow
Down, down, down down down
Swing with your pickaxe, swing.
"Cartoon Derek looks up from the depths of the mineshaft, and in the bright skies above, can see the happy face of a cow as it peers down into the mineshaft." by Replicate/Flux
[Dave sits at his computer, having finally removed most of the bubble wrap]
Dave: This is it! PhileSplitter 2.0! Now with effervescence enhancement protocols!
Green: I thought we agreed no more bubble-based experiments?
Dave: We definitely didn't! And, anyway, this is different. This splits files into whatever sized bubbles we want!
Green: Couldn't you always specify file sizes with PhileSplitter?
Dave: Sure, but not in bubbles! Look.
[Dave drags a file onto the PhileSplitter icon]
Dave: See? Instead of those boring old file fragments, we get these lovely bubble containers!
Green: And what exactly does putting files in bubbles achieve?
Dave: They look better when your screen's full of them. And if you need to recombine the bubbles, look.
[Dave drags a bubble onto another bubble and they blurp together to form a larger bubble]
Green: Fascinating.
Dave: See, it's exciting.
Green: Wasn't the whole point of PhileSplitter to cut down large files to fit onto a floppy disk?
Dave: Yeah!
Green: But how big are the bubbles?
Dave: Like I said, you can make the bubbles as big or as small as you'd like.
Green: And this is all powered by the Effervescent Engine?
Dave: Yup!
Green: So, in order to access the data in the bubbles, you need to risk putting your home or office at risk of bubble invasion?
Dave: Hey, nobody ever said that splitting files wasn't a risky business!
[Dave reaches under his desk]
Green: Please don't tell me you're getting more cola...
Dave: Don't be silly.
[Dave pulls out a CD]
Dave: The bubbles are wonderfully represented by the wonderfully circular shape of a CD! Each one containing hundreds of the tiny split bubbles, all ready to invade the target system!
Green: Probably shouldn't use the word "Invade" in the marketting.
Dave: Hmm.. ok. "Burst onto the system!"
[Dave frantically typing]
Dave: Look, if I just adjust the bubble size ratio, it reforms all the bubbles into the new size.
Green: Dave, those look suspiciously like actual bubbles forming on your screen.
Dave: That's the power of the Effervescent Engine! It's supposed to do that!
Green: Is it supposed to be dripping out of your screen?
Dave: Maybe if I increase the compression.
Green: Dave, I really think you should...
Dave: Just one more adjustment!
Lady Computer: [Draws a bursting bubble on the screen]
Dave: See? Even Lady Computer's getting into the spirit of it!
Green: I don't think that's what she meant by that!
[Suddenly, the screen fills with actual bubbles]
Dave: Yeay, Bubbles!
Green: This is why you can't have nice things.
Dave: Quick! Get me some anti-bubble bubble wrap!
[End Credits as Dave tries to wrap his already-soaked computer in bubble wrap while Green slowly backs away toward the door]
