Yesterday was a trip to chat about the same thing we chatted about a few weeks ago, except this time with less of an emphasis on how rough both me and Mum were due to the Flu we were currently going through.
This time we got a proper "Annual Review", and things went more or less swimmingly.
There's a worry about my Sugar levels.. .. There's always a worry about my Sugar levels.
But apparently that'll be dealt with via a phone call in a couple of days, so I await that fun and exciting adventure.
Other than that, the regular poking of feet, discussion of eating habits and that sort of thing
.
Honestly, it wasn't too bad of an ordeal, but there was the issue of getting there, which was done via a short bus trip.
I can usually cope with that trip. It's only a 5 minute bus ride down the street. Close enough to walk on a good day, but too far to walk on a bad day.
We definitely had to bus it yesterday, but even that proved to be a little too much for me.
I practically stumbled out of the bus and had to quickly sit on a nearby wall outside the shoe-shop to sit and breath in the air, and calm my motion-sickness down, as it was really quite horrific by that point.
As bad as it was, I managed the trip there and back, and we got seen to well enough.
Once home, a rest period was needed, and that resulted in a good couple of hours worth of a nap.
As for coding, a little was done, but not too much.
Platdude's now flying around his moon-space screen with a nice amount of physics, and some rather generic particle-rocket-flames, but there's no gameplay there yet.
I need to figure out what that gameplay might be, now.
Hmmm..
[verse]
Went down to the doctors and they said that I was fit,
Except for all the sugar levels rising. (sugar sugar rising fast)
Poking with a tiny stick they prodded at my feet,
Then they asked me if I ate too many grapes. (oh no)
[pre-chorus]
And bananas, too (and bananas, too)
They are bad for you (so bad for you)
They're full of sugar (no no no no)
No good for you (no no no no no)
[bridge - choral]
I should try to eat more fruity things instead of all the snacks,
Less crisps or cakes, and no more chocolates, biscuits that go crack.
It's time to eat more healthily, more vegetables and fish.
And toast with butter and loads of Jam is definitely off the list.
[break]
Everybody Health.
Everybody Health (yeah)
Everybody, Everybody Health, Health Health
Health, Yeah, Everybody, Woo, Yeah, Health! (yeah)
(everybody)
Int. Dave's Study - Morning
[Dave staring intensely at an old TV screen with Pong running. Green enters with two coffees]
Dave: It doesn't move left or right, just up and down.
Green: That's generally how Pong works, yes.
Dave: But how am I supposed to review something this... limited?
Green: Most people would start with its historical significance.
Dave: "Graphics: Line. Enemy: Also Line. Ball: Dot. Sound: Beep."
Green: I see we're maintaining your high standards of game criticism.
Dave: The scoring system is going to be weird, too! "Seven bounces out of two possible paddles!"
Green: Have you considered just using stars? Like everyone else?
Dave: There aren't any stars on this game. Just the lines and the dot.
Green: No, I meant...
Dave: Anyway, I pulled some old cardboard boxes from the house move, and I thought we could reproduce the game for the photo.
Green: [sarcastically] Oh yeah, I forgot we were doing those.
Dave: Watch! When the 'ball' hits at this angle-
[Dave tugs a string and the "ball" flings across the room]
Dave: Minor setback! I'll just adjust the tension...
Green: Maybe we should stick to screenshots?
Dave: Screenshots don't capture the essence of these retro games. We need to illustrate the diversity without relying on primitive graphics.
Green: Maybe you should focus on the actual text of the review. What is it you actually wrote for this one?
Dave: "An exciting adventure of tennis in shades of green. The lawn is well mowed and allows for freedom of movement in a vertical plane."
Green: And we've lost it again.
Dave: "Movement rating: Seven serves out of two possible line judges!"
Green: You know what? I miss the ducks and vegetables system.
Dave: Really?
Green: No.
[End Credits roll as Dave attempts to calculate the exact speed of a Pong ball in miles per hour]
