One final little tweak to JSE. Changing (ScriptB[Line]+ScriptD[Line]) into ScriptBD[Line], which requires me to pre-calculate that tiny numerical value into another big chunky array.
And did it work?
Well, yeah, kinda. I think so.
For everything I've tested it on, it's made a difference of about 15% or so, which isn't at all that bad.
It's had the unintended side-effect of breaking compatibility with my Samsung Galaxy A 10 Tab 2018, again, but given that wasn't actually working last week.. I think I can probably live with that.
I'm STILL getting that "first run is slower" on Safari, and am going to have to dig into why that's still happening. .. And/or why it's happening at all.
But, yeah, things should be a fair amount faster (again) today. I'm happy with what I've done.
..
I'm quite unhappy, however, that I haven't done a bloomin' thing on the side of making a game.
I'll slap myself on the wrist for having not done that.
Still, there's 2 days left in April..
....
(eek!)
Sure do hope nothing monumental's about to happen in the bungalow, that'll completely shatter any gamedev time over the next couple of days.
You can Play with JSE here. Please do let me know if you find anything that's broken. If you have them, test some of your older projects, to ensure I haven't destroyed any functionality along the way.
[Dave is holding up a full-body white rabbit costume while Green backs away slowly. Mrs. Thompson is sorting through paperwork at the makeshift desk built up from various empty cardboard boxes]
Dave: Look, it's perfect! It even has a little waistcoat pocket for your phone.
Green: For the last time, I'm not wearing it.
Dave: But the opening ceremony needs a mascot!
Mrs. Thompson: I do think it's rather sweet.
Green: Then you wear it.
Mrs. Thompson: Oh no, I couldn't possibly. I need my hands free to tie the ribbon before David cuts it.
Dave: And I have to be me. I'm the face of Dave's Games and ScrunchCakes! It's in the name.
Green: ScrunchCake..?
[Brian pokes his head around the door]
Brian: Is that the bunny costume?
Dave: See? Brian gets it!
Brian: Yeah, it'll look great on you, Greenie!
Green: I'm not wearing it! I am NOT wearing it.
Dave: Don't worry, this one's fireproof.
Mrs. Thompson: Why would it need to be fireproof?
Green: [beat] Yeah, why would it need to be fireproof?
Dave: Well, with the ScrunchCake Sentinel...
[Sarah walks in carrying a tray of experimental ScrunchCakes]
Sarah: New batch ready for testing!
Dave: Perfect timing! Green, try one while you try on the costume.
Green: Neither of those things is happening.
Sarah: What? Don't you want to try my Carrot Cake ScrunchCakes?
Mrs. Thompson: Just think how lovely the photos will look.
Green: Photos?
Dave: For the local paper! They're sending out a journalist to cover the grand opening.
Green: For the last time, again, I am not wearing the stupid costume.
[Barbara enters with a camera]
Barbara: Oh good, the costume arrived! Shall I set up the lighting?
Green: NO!
Dave: Greenie Yes! This is happening. Either wear the bunny costume or...
Green: Or what?
Dave: Or .. I'll let you explain to everyone why we have so many copies of Count Duckula 2.
Green: Everyone knows that's because you bought a box of 50 copies of Count Duckula 2.
Dave: Aaah, but is it!
Green: Yes.
Dave: Just put the bunny costume on, and prepare for fame and fortune.
[End credits roll as Green reluctantly takes the costume]
