The first of May. Time for some lovely bright summer games.
-=-=-
I apologise for not having asked properly for a theme, this month. I know I should be involving the players more, but finding time... Ugh.
This month, then, I asked CoPilot for suggestions and it came up with a few. I picked "Sun", because it's May, and it's too frickin' sunny, and having to sit outside in a gazebo, whilst the carpet fitters were doing their job yesterday was ... yikes!!!
So, then...
Games.
Something, something, sunny summer sun.
If you can suggest any games that rotate around the sun (tee hee) then be sure to let us know in the comments or the Discord
The Carpet
The carpet is lovely.
There's still a few bits of furniture out in the gazebo, and we'll be bringing those in over the next day or so. Mostly because, even though we're "pretty" sure where everything's going, we're giving ourselves time to decide for sure if it's the layout we're sticking with.
[verse]
I'm admiring the beautiful sunrise, this morning,
As it rises up high from the seas.
Colourful rays that light up a darkened sky,
With hues of red, orange, and yellow and blue.
[pre-chorus]
The sun it bursts into life, every morning,
And rays of death burn us all up without warning.
They blast through the windows, and melt all our minds,
And they penetrate curtains of every kind.
[chorus]
Flames. [beat] Flames of light, burn through my eyes.
Heat, [beat] All the heat, scorching my brain.
And we take lots of photos and post them on instagram,
So all of our friends can see how bad they are.
[break]
[verse]
Beams of heat shooting from way up above.
Cascading fire descends. (oh, hot, hot, hot)
Where have the clouds gone? They usually protect us,
From the hostile rays burning the skies. (oh, hot, hot, hot)
[chorus]
Flames. [beat] Flames of light, burn through my eyes.
Heat, [beat] All the heat, scorching my brain.
And we take lots of photos and post them on instagram,
So all of our friends can see how bad they are.
[break]
[bridge - aiary]
The fireball floats far away in the sky but is close enough that it still burns us.
We try to use lotions and parasols, but the rays burn, burn, burn through them all.
(Have you got your sunglasses on?)
[chorus]
Flames. [beat] Flames of light, burn through my eyes.
Heat, [beat] All the heat, scorching my brain.
And we take lots of photos and post them on instagram,
So all of our friends can see how bad they are.
Ext. Dave's Games and ScrunchCakes - Shop Front - Morning
[Dave stands nervously by a red ribbon stretched across the doorway. Green, in full bunny costume, is holding the other end of the oversized scissors. Mrs. Thompson presides over a small folding table laden with ScrunchCakes. A small crowd of eight curious onlookers gather around.]
Dave: [clearing throat] Friends, Romans, Gamers...
Green: [muffled through bunny head] I don't think there's any Romans.
Local Journalist: [raising camera] Could you both hold the scissors together?
Mrs. Thompson: Stand up straight, David.
Dave: In 1972, a company called Atari...
Green: Oh god.
Dave: ...changed the face of entertainment forever...
Barbara: [to Sarah] Is he really doing this?
Dave: And today, we continue that proud tradition...
Local Journalist: And cheese..
Dave: ...of bringing joy through pixels and...now...sausages ScrunchCakes!
Local Journalist: Smile!
[Flash goes off, Dave blinks, scissors slip]
Green: Just cut the ribbon, Dave!
Dave: But I haven't got to the part about the ZX Spectrum yet!
Mrs. Thompson: David, the ScrunchCakes are starting to melt in the sun.
Dave: Right! Yes! [raises scissors dramatically] Let the games begin!
Green: [Bunny voice] Snippity snippits!!
Dave: Don't do the voice.
[They attempt to cut the ribbon, failing several times, eventually giving up, and ripping the ribbon off its stand.]
Green: [Bunny voice] Yeay!
Dave: Welcome to Dave's Games and ScrunchCakes! Where videogame history meets baked scrunchiness!
Mrs. Thompson: ScrunchCakes for everyone!
[A ScrunchCake launches from inside the shop]
Barbara: [from inside] Sorry! I set it off again.
[End credits roll as the small crowd cautiously enters the shop]
