I spent a lot of today wasting time, trying to make JSE faster again.
-=-=-
I'm not saying that what I was doing was "wrong", but as things got progressively slower, I ended up holding Ctrl+Z for a hefty amount of time.
Trying to move JSE_arg, JSE_argn, JSE_argst all into a single array probably wasn't that bad of an idea, to help speed out the clearout from 3 arrays to just one, but .. yeah, it didn't help much! It actually need up WORSE than doing 3 separate arrays, and I'm still baffled as to why that was.
I tried making it a multi-dim array, but that ended up with me still needing to generate 3 new arrays anyway.
Really can't seem to find a good option to speed this up.
ho-hum.
So, yeah, mostly a day wasted.
I did, however, write this month's Foldapuz game, though, so that's ready to go on Monday. (It wasn't hard. This is easily one of the simplest-to-code games in the whole of Foldapuz, with its code being a whopping 512 bytes!!)
We also brought in the rest of the furniture from the Gazebo, too, and put the tent-style Gazebo away.. .. Once we'd managed to find all the bits, since a huge gust of wind pulled it up from it's tent-pegs, and started dragging it around the garden, meaning we had to rush and do everything in a chaotic hurry.
... Oh the fun.
But other than that, it was a horrible melting pot of a "lovely sunny day".
[verse]
It isn't getting any faster this time.
I tried my hardest but it's not in line.
No matter how I try to make it quicker.
The engine isn't getting any slicker.
[chorus]
I try as I might,
But I can't pull it off.
I'm doing my best,
But it just won't improve.
I need to rethink,
And come up with a plan,
To make it all better off,
As much as I can.
[break]
[verse]
It isn't getting any better this time.
Perhaps I should consider stopping.
And maybe make a move on adding features and fixing bugs,
Instead of just focusing on speed.
[chorus]
I try as I might,
But I can't pull it off.
I'm doing my best,
But it just won't improve.
I need to rethink,
And come up with a plan,
To make it all better off,
As much as I can.
[break]
[bridge - airy]
Sometimes no matter how hard that I try I can't make it go really much faster.
I'm trying too hard, and it's making things slow, and I feel like it's all a disaster.
But with Control and Zed, I can go back instead, to a time when it wasn't too bad.
Then I will begin to make up a new plan, and will try once again, 'til I'm sad.
[chorus]
I try as I might,
But I can't pull it off.
I'm doing my best,
But it just won't improve.
I need to rethink,
And come up with a plan,
To make it all better off,
As much as I can.
[outro]
And that's really as much as I can.

Int. Dave's Games and ScrunchCakes - Staff Room - Evening
[Dave, Green and Mrs Thompson are counting receipts at the makeshift cardboard box desk. Green has finally shed the bunny costume, which hangs limply at the back of the room.]
Dave: I don't understand why everyone wanted to use their phone to pay for things.
Green: Does nobody use money anymore?
Mrs Thompson: Proper money. With the Queen on it.
Dave: I think they have the King on, now.
Green: I'm with Mrs Thompson on this one.
Mrs Thompson: Thirty-two ScrunchCakes sold, though!
Dave: Out of three!
Mrs Thompson: What?
Dave: And the purple one was a hit, too.
Mrs Thompson: People seemed quite taken with the blackcurrant filling.
Dave: Blackcurrant?
Green: I wouldn't go that far...
Dave: And we had eight whole videogame sales!
Green: Early numbers look good! Though we might need more shelving.
Dave: And more copies of Count Duckula 2. That was exceedingly popular.
Green: One copy sold is not exceedingly popular.
Dave: And I've already found a listing for "Mystery Gaming Box - 50 items" on eBay.
Green: Please tell me it's not more Count Duckula 2.
Dave: This one promises "Genuine Retro Classics."
Mrs Thompson: I wonder if we should create some videogame themed ScrunchCakes?
Green: That might be a good idea. But they'd have to be retro inspired.
Dave: Centipede ScrunchCakes?
Green: Not after that movie.
[A ScrunchCake whizzes past]
Barbara: Sorry, my bad.
