I'm hitting that "slower than it used to be" wall in JSE again.
-=-=-
I can now get Optimisationalism 5 running at "The slow speed" most of the time, in Safari.
It almost never wants to run at the faster speed, no matter how many times I click the run button or hit refresh.
Which isn't great.
BUT.. It is at least a more stable situation, instead of it being erratically faster or slower, so I guess that's an improvement?
.. Not that being always-slow is an improvement.
*ugh*
I'm sure there's a knack to this, somewhere. I just need to find it.
Meanwhile..
I think I might need to chill out and de-stress a bit, this weekend. Me and Mum are considering going for a nice big longer-than-usual walk, but aren't certain if it'll be too much for me.
I do need more walks, but this past week or so has been more than a little chaotic, what with having to clear out the living room for the carpet, and all.
Time to dig out Google Maps and see if there's anything interesting to see, within walking distance.
[chorus]
Hey, where you going?
Are you going on a stroll.
Can I come along and walk with you,
It's fun to get outside.
(woo)
Hey, where you going?
Have you jotted out a plan?
Do you know how long it's going to take,
To get to where you can.
(woo)
[verse]
Strolling, strolling, there and back,
But where is there, and how far's that?
I love to travel far and wide,
And breathe the air that is outside.
Let's go (let's go) let's have a trek,
To somewhere new, we'll take a snack,
So we can have something to eat,
While walking somewhere, such a treat.
[break]
[chorus]
Hey, where you going?
Are you going on a stroll.
Can I come along and walk with you,
It's fun to get outside.
(woo)
Hey, where you going?
Have you jotted out a plan?
Do you know how long it's going to take,
To get to where you can.
(woo)
[bridge]
Wandering and walking somewhere we have never been.
I wonder how many others have been to where we're going?
Up over hills and straight through fields, we carry on our quest.
To get ourselves to somewhere new, where we can have a rest.
[chorus]
Hey, where you going?
Are you going on a stroll.
Can I come along and walk with you,
It's fun to get outside.
(woo)
Hey, where you going?
Have you jotted out a plan?
Do you know how long it's going to take,
To get to where you can.

Int. Dave's Games and ScrunchCakes - Main Shop - Morning
[Dave is attempting to demonstrate an Atari game to a customer while simultaneously keeping an eye on the ScrunchCake counter. Green is rushing between both areas of the shop.]
Dave: So this is Centipede, one of the greatest games ever made.
Customer: Is it supposed to smell like sausages?
Green: [Shouts from the ScrunchCake area] Dave! The Sentinel's acting up again!
Dave: ...and as you can see, the innovative use of the trackball...
Green: DAVE!
Dave: [shouts to Greenie] Just unplug it!
Customer: Are those cakes meant to be flying?
Dave: ScrunchCakes. It says on the door. And, yeah, that's our signature serving style.
Green: [emerging covered in flour] David, we need more staff.
Dave: I'm starting to think that, too.
Green: Preferably someone who won't destroy the shop.
Customer: The way that cake flew across the shop, I don't think it needs any help.
Dave: Hey, do you want to play Centipede, or not?
Customer: No, I only came in to see if you had a copy of Manic Miner.
Green: I can't keep running back and forth like this.
Dave: At least you're not in the bunny costume anymore.
[Another ScrunchCake whizzes past]
Dave: That one was actually aimed quite well!
Green: Dave, we need help. Real help. Weekend help.
Dave: But hiring people means interviews and stuff. And paying them.
Green: It's 9:15, Dave. We've already had one customer leave because we weren't giving them any attention, and now another one's scared for his life.
Customer: I'm not scared. This is fun!
Dave: Do you want a job?
Customer: Hell no!
Green: He's just here for Manic Miner.
Dave: Oh yeah. Do we have any Manic Miners.
Green: We could ask Matt.
Dave: Yeah. Come back in a few days and we'll see if we can import it for you. Might be costly, though. Old retro games aren't cheap.
[Another ScrunchCake launches]
Customer: Is this normal?
Dave and Green: [simultaneously] Yes.
