And that, dear reader, is when it all broke again!
-=-=-
I had to do a HUGE rewrite of how JSE handles references and stacks, during the Parser stage of proceedings, such that I could remove a number of Array Resets during the runtime.
I broke the language at about 2pm, and finally got things working again at around 9:30pm, after stressing the heck out about what I'd done!!!
It wasn't "that" bad. I knew I'd be able to wrangle it back to where it should be, or even do a big Ctrl-Z to undo it all, but for a long time yesterday, things just did NOT work.. In the slightest!
I've now got it to the point where I can run the usual test scripts, and things "look" like they're right, but.
.. Oh no, do I have to go through EVERY command, again!?
..
I might have to.
ugh.
Michael Fernie asks..
Will you update the command syntax and help pages to reflect all the changes? I remember we talked about some of them being out of date. Maybe more so now after all your new changes.
I still need to do this.
I've added a few more commands into the language, and I've been tweaking a bunch of commands as I went along, so more than a few things need to be updated to match the new enhanced or rejigged functionality.
In addition, I need to go over all the examples in the giant sprawling page, to be sure they all still work
Bah, I've been so busy, this week, and it's only Tuesday.
Wait..
Tuesday!?
...Oh no, it's Tuesday!!!!
Meanwhile...
If you popped into Foldapuz yesterday, you might've played the new game that I forgot launched yesterday!
LOL! Only I could forget that I'd posted a new game!!!
.. That's not normal, really, is it?
Escape Velocity can be played in Sheets in Foldapuz, or over in Unfolded
I'll post about it properly in a jiffy.
I've been so busy, I forgot I made a game.
Forgot I made a game. I forgot I'd made a game.
Been so busy, I forgot I made a game.
How silly to forget that I had made another game.
I make so many I've forgotten all their names.
I try but it's so hard to remember all their names.
I could do with a printed sheet of names,
Stick it up upon my wall,
But I'd probably need a stadium,
On which to fit them all.
I've been so busy, I forgot I made a game.
Forgot I made a game. I forgot I'd made a game.
Been so busy, I forgot I made a game.
How silly to forget that I had made another game.
When people in the future ask,
"What games have you made?"
I'll have to stop and think,
For an hour, or a day.
I've been so busy, I forgot I made a game.
Forgot I made a game. I forgot I'd made a game.
Been so busy, I forgot I made a game.
How silly to forget that I had made another game.
[Dave is slumped on his sofa with a pristine Gameboy in his hands. Lady Computer's screen displays a curious emoji]
Dave: Another exciting day of retail!
[Lady Computer beeps inquisitively]
Dave: Remember that cartridge from yesterday? The mysterious "Far Torch"?
[Lady Computer displays a question mark]
Dave: Well, I've finally found my Gameboy. Can't believe I still hadn't unpacked it.
[Lady Computer makes an electronic chirping sound]
Dave: It's vintage!
[Lady Computer displays a grandfather clock]
Dave: Right, moment of truth...
[Dave blows on the cartridge dramatically and inserts it]
Dave: And we have...
[Tetris theme plays]
Dave: Tetris?
[Lady Computer makes a sad trombone sound effect]
Dave: Just regular Tetris. .. But why would someone write "Far Torch" on it?
[Lady Computer flashes random characters across her screen]
Dave: Maybe it's a code! Maybe if I get a high score, it unlocks a secret game!
[Lady Computer makes a warning beep]
Dave: Or maybe it's Russian! Maybe it's the original Russian Tetris?
[Lady Computer displays "ERROR" briefly]
Dave: Could the blocks be a secret message?
[Lady Computer plays the first few notes of Tetris theme, sarcastically]
Dave: No, no, wait... "Far Torch" - what if you rearrange the letters?
[Lady Computer displays a spinning wheel, then a skull]
Dave: "FORTH CAR!" That's it! It's actually a driving game!
[Lady Computer plays the sound of a car crash]
Dave: Maybe if I play it upside down?
[Lady Computer flashes a red alert]
Dave: I think I can see hidden messages in the different blocks! S L O T. It's a slot machine.
[End credits roll as Dave continues playing Tetris]
