New games every week!

I spent most of yesterday fiddling with Browsercade.

-=-=-

It's really looking kinda old, over in the browsercade!
There's a lot of old code that needs polishing up, and if I do want to integrate JSE games into the engine, I'm going to need some kind of rewrite of the menu system.

Currently it's a big sprawling list of arcade cabinets, 63 of them, in fact.
If I get the engine to the point where I can start to add the JSE games, and I add roughly 100 of those games to that list, it's going to be a LOT of scrolling!

But what kind of interface should it have?
There are a terrible number of games, and they should probably be organised in some way.
The domain name of the site being "Browsercade" kinda limits us in the realm of an arcade, but all those cabinets sure do take up a lot of space.
If it were just the icons, and the names..? Well, then I'd be making some sort of OS Gui..?
.. Should I make something like that?!

Perhaps, instead of "A real arcade in your browser", it could be something like "A collection of arcade rooms and a faked emulation station"
Or maybe I could come up with something really off the wall..?
Or maybe an Art generator could..?!

Prompt : "A futuristic GUI interface for selecting arcade games based on a series of icons."

No, that's too focused on the "device", not the GUI.

Prompt : "A simplistic modern GUI with arcade game icons, abstract, unique, colourful"

Still not there.
Let's add a bit more "achievability"
Reduce the colours, focus on the GUI, make things more "Me" 'ish

Prompt : "A simplistic modern GUI with arcade game icons, abstract, unique, colourful, but posterised to 8-bit colours, so only a few shades of red, orange, yellow, green, cyan, blue and purple, with a few shades of black, grey and white"

Ooooh..
Now..
... Oooooh...

Could I do something with that?
That might be tricky.
That might be VERY tricky. Looks like it needs a ton of swoopy effects to pull it off.
But.. Oooh, I do like that.

How about one last try..

Prompt : "A simplistic modern GUI with arcade game icons, abstract, unique, colourful, but posterised to 8-bit colours, so only a few shades of red, orange, yellow, green, cyan, blue and purple, with a few shades of black, grey and white, squares, rectangles, blocky, retro, black background"

Yeah, that's more like something I'd do.

In fact, it kinda reminds me of the Shoebox interface. Why didn't I think of that, before?

Have some Genre icons along the side, and the bubbly game icons over the rest of the screen.
That could work, right?

Meanwhile..

The hair was getting stupid, with the Male-Pattern-Baldness making me look dumber by the day. Nice thick hair around the back, bugger all at the front..
So a couple of days ago, we took off the hair-guard, and went right the way down.

It wasn't quite perfect, though, so I ordered one of those "EVERYTHING GOES" shavers, with the giant 7-circular-blade head, which suggests it'll get right on down to the nitty gritty.
*cries*

I'll likely give it a week to see how well it does, but might still end up having to use a classic razor to get rid of all the stubble.
Hmmm...
I'm so old, now!!!

And, good grief, the lumpy surgery bits sure as hell look lumpy..

So, um.. Hats from here on?!

FAQ : "Why do you need your Mum to cut your hair, LOL..."

Actually, I've been doing it myself.. I am a growed up peeples.
What I need, however, is someone watching over whilst I run up the length of that great big scar around the back of my neck.
If anything happens to that, and it starts leaking (which it has done once before!), then that could spell disaster.
The prospect of slicing into it, even the teensiest amount.. Quite frankly that scares me to death.
Mum's there to watch over me.
.. Though if I'm honest, if it did happen, god only knows what the next steps would be!!
