I've started. Now we just need to wait for a Monday!
-=-=-
Gosh, this first Monday's a way off, huh?
I've written the first Banana game for the month ahead, and it's .. kinda simple. Not much to it. But then, Foldapuz games aren't usually all that terribly big anyway, are they?
Anyway, that's done, and it frees up most of the next week to work on the giant Browsercade list of fixings.
I already managed to fix about 5 or 6 games with a couple of little tweaks.
Tweak one, reset all the variables before a game starts. You'd've thought I did this, and .. for the most part I did, but not ALL the variables.
Well, now I have, and a few games sprang back to life as a result.
What does this quick tweak teach us?
Does it suggest that, we should probably not use such an erratic mismatch of Global variables for all manner of purposes?
..
Or does it tell us that, it's perfectly fine to use all the globals, just be sure you reset them before starting the next thing?
Hmmm.
It's hard to know which of those two is more sensible.
MusicAL Advent
I also managed to get the weird sprite flickering on a couple of games resolved. I'm not 100% sure where that bug came from, but it only seemed to be happening in Firefox.
I've done a little sprite-caching, and that seems to have solved it, thought I will have to test on a slower system. I think the Quest 3 might come in handy for that.
On top of all that, I also got Advent Track 3 a bit more fleshed out. It sounds great alongside Track 1, but now I'm thinking Track 2 might need a bit more work.
Still, 3 out of 26 ain't bad. And .. eeek, 5 months left until Advent!!!
[chorus]
I've started on the Advent Calendar. (It's still July)
I've got five more months to make it. (So long)
And I'd really love if you could enjoy it. (Maybe)
I'll be posting to my blog in December. (Remember)
[verse]
The advent calendar is way under way,
And I wonder if, through advent, all the people will stay,
Will they keep listening to the music I've made,
Or will their interest, without minigames, begin to fade?
[chorus]

[verse]
For this year, I've just opted to do little tunes. (choons)
A bunch of melodies that you can maybe listen to. (choo)
There'll be one every day over Advent, (alphabetically.)
So every day's a special little treat. (If I manage it)
[chorus]

I've got five more months to make it. (So long)

[Dave and Barbara are seated at the small table, both nursing cups of coffee. Dave is eyeing his cup suspiciously.]
Dave: You know what this needs?
Barbara: If you say 'Purple', I'm leaving.
Dave: No, no... just... something to make it more... scrunchy.
Barbara: Coffee doesn't need to be scrunchy, Dave. Coffee is perfect, just the way it is.
Dave: But imagine the possibilities! ScrunchCoffee! It could be revolutionary!
[Dave pulls out his notebook, starting to scribble frantically]
Barbara: Is ScrunchTea not enough?
Dave: That was different. That had a broth base. This is... well, this would have to be Scrunchy in a different way.!
Barbara: [sipping her coffee] Some things shouldn't be messed with, Dave. Coffee is sacred.
Dave: But what if we just added a tiny bit of...
Barbara: No.
Dave: Just a smidge of...
Barbara: Absolutely not.
Dave: But...
Barbara: Dave, if you ruin coffee for me like you ruined Cakes, I will never forgive you.
Dave: Ruined..?
[Green enters, drinking a ScrunchyTea]
Green: What's he trying to ruin now?
Barbara: He wants to make ScrunchCoffee.
Green: [looks at his tea] To be fair, he has transformed by Tea drinking.
Dave: See? Greenie gets it!
Green: Even Starbucks put Pumpkin in their coffee, nowadays. Flavoured coffees are definitely the [airquotes] "in" thing.
Dave: Picture it: "The perfect blend of scrunch and caffeine! Wake up to a scrunch!"
Barbara: I'm going to need a lot more coffee to deal with this conversation.
Dave: Ooh! We could call it "Morning Scrunch"!
