Took most of yesterday off.

Honestly, the lack of sleep lately has been awful.
Being woken up early by the neighbour's work men, as they're getting a new roof done.
(And being quite alarmed at the cost of getting a new roof, given that we still haven't done ours yet)

Days are getting cool enough for a mid-day nap, though, so I snuggled up into my nap-sack for a good few hours, yesterday. I guess I must've needed it. .. again.. Hmm..

It doesn't help that there's new Trek to watch, and new Worms game on Apple Arcade, too.

Worms Across Worlds



My thoughts on the new Worms game are that it feels like someone trying to replicate a Worms game using modern techniques. It's not "that" bad. I've seen (and coded!) worse, but it's "unlock" driven mechanics are kinda boring, if I'm honest.
I just want to play a game of Worms, I don't want to play through a rubbish story mode to unlock each weapon one by one, and unlock "features" like "Change the name of your worms".. .. Which only unlocks available choices, not the ability to actually name them.. with a keyboard...

Also, I'm only hearing one voice-pack so far. whether that unlocks later, I'm not sure.
There's different "ranks" of worms on your team, and you'd've thought they would've had different voices, there, or the fact that we're "crossing between worlds", but no. We're in the bargain-basement, in so far as features go, here.

And it's a shame, really, 'cos the engine is mostly good.
It actually controls really well, and is probably the best Worms Controls experience I've had on a mobile device.
(Though, I also tried playing it on Mac, and I instinctively hit Backspace to jump back.. .. .. That doesn't work..)

.. Except for the grenade "floating" across the sky so bloody slowly that it explodes well before it's had a chance to reach its target.
I didn't like that bit.
Especially since, from the start, you only have Bazooka and Grenade, and don't even have access to things like the Jetpack, Ninja Rope and other movement techniques that the original games had pretty much from the get-go.
The unlocking really does suck the life out of what should just be a fun multiplayer game.

Donkey Kong Bananza



I've reached a bit in the game where the boss is floating above, throwing electric on the floor, and I'm in a small pit with an electrified moat around the edge.
I'm having to look up to aim at the boss, look down to watch for the electric on the floor, and spin to look behind me to make sure I don't fall into the moat.

... You can probably guess how this is leaving my motion sickness issues.
I think I'm going to stop trying to beat the game, here, and just enjoy the sandbox world.
.. Because I reached this boss on Sunday and haven't beat it yet.

What the heck is with Nintendo making so many games that require me to spin the camera around in Boss fights?! This, Mario Odyssey did it, Zelda's do it, and even Arms did it, too.
Stop making me spin around, Nintendo!!
