New games every week!

Sad face.

I'm supposed to be adding a new word game, every week, but this week's IGN Sillyness resulted in me spending literally hours replying to a whole bunch of emails, and trying to keep tabs on everything as it all went a wee bit crazy.

To be fair, I could've just spent ten minutes replying to those, but I do like to waffle in my email replies!!

As a result, I didn't actually get around to much coding, and there's no new word game, this week

This week's Stringy Things release is significantly rejigged, thanks to a number of suggestions from Tormuse over at the Developing Ramblings topic, on Curly's World of Freeware.

First off, a much needed overhault to that horrible gnatty menu system.
It might look roughly the same, but it has a much nicer overall feel to it, and gives the player a bit more feedback than the last one.
Luvly stuff..

Second, Tormuse suggested that the Strings game be "Tappable". It's odd that I hadn't considered this.
Way back in Stringy Things 1 and 2, that was indeed the way you played it. You'd tap each letter, then hit Return (or Right Mouse Click) to enter the word.
When I switched to the DS edition, dragging seemed much more suitable.
It never occurred to me that it might play better if I switched it back, but indeed it does have a good feel, tapping instead of dragging.
You may now do either in Strings. Drag out your word, or tap-tap-tap-tap-tap.
Double-tap to complete your word.

Next up comes the Rack change, as this is again switched out for a more "tappy" experience.
Tormuse suggested that, since there was no purpose to the tile placement, it might be better to just make it tappable instead.
I returned with a case of "Aaah, but I could add Premium Tiles", and then got into a bit of a "Which is Better?" situation.
In the end, I left it up to Tormuse to decide, and "Speed of game" won out over "Complexity of Game"
So, for Racks, you now simply tap each letter and it pops into the rack. It's a lot faster to play it this way, and you'll find yourself getting much higher scores as a result.

You can Download All New Stringy Things here, for Windows, Android, or playable in your Browser.

Sorry there's no new game, this week.
