I really do find myself in a bit of a baffled state over this one.
As the AGameAWeek guy, I'm certainly used to shrugging off failed releases, and in many ways this one should be exactly the same.
This is simply one of many releases that I've made this year, and over the course of the year, pretty much all the games have had a day or two of interest, and then quickly vanished.

C3ntipong, SpikeDislike2, Hoppy Bobby, NeonPlat Raw, Blockman Gets Hungry, even Cardagain!
They've all spent a day or two gathering interest in the twittersphere, then swiftly disappearing back into the world of obscurity.

In reply to yesterday's post, Voxel suggests that it could simply be a case of publicity..
"Sad times. Did BlastTrax get onto any review sites? I know it???s obvious and cliche to say, but if nobody knows about the game, nobody will buy it."
I agree wholeheartedly.
If the game doesn't get "spotted" by the reviewers, then it'll never get noticed by the players.

But the thing is, though.. BlastTrax most certainly has the attention!
It's a curious little oddity.
Out of ALL my games, literally all 300+ of the games in my archive, BlastTrax has probably had the largest number of reviews, the biggest amount of attention, and the greatest support through the world of social media.
I find it bizarre, then, that the game simply hasn't sold!
It's been absolutely mind-boggling to watch all this attention, and love for the game, translate into next to no sales at all!

To date, the game has sold about 350 copies, or thereabout, which I suppose I shouldn't grumble amount. And, I know it could easily have been a heck of a lot worse. But given all that amount of press coverage, I was expecting a little more than that!

I'd like to thank each and every one of the reviewers of the game, and all those who still keep trying to publicise it over Twitter and Facebook. I honestly have no idea why it isn't selling!

All I can think of is that people simply don't like old-skool shoot-em-ups, and that's pretty much the crux of it.
You can make as good a game as you'd like, and that some others like, too.. but if the actual players don't give a rats arse, then that's pretty much as far as you'll get.

Ho hum.

..Worryingly, the same bunch of people seem to be lapping up Sheep Goes Right.
I wonder if that will suffer a similar fate..
