OUYA Download Stats
Blog
15th December 2013
-=-=- It's 2 months, today, since I launched my first game onto OUYA. NeonPlat Raw has since been downloaded 78 times. .. hmm.. In comparison, NeonPlat Extreme has managed 65, which is quite decent given that I only released that one about a week ago. Looking at the graph, it's fairly obvious that I have 4 very distinct levels of popularity going on. 8 games in the marketplace, and 4 very different sets of download stats, each group being extraordinarily close, but separated by quite a large gap to the next group. The NeonPlats are both down at the bottom. Apparently, as much fun as it is, and as awesome as the Multiplayer mode is on OUYA, NeonPlat just doesn't agree with people. Quite why that is, I'm not sure. Perhaps people are sick of Neon-things. Who knows? The next group is currently made up of SpikeDislike2 and Sheep Goes Right. Sheep is being downloaded at a staggering rate, and will no doubt hop into first place fairly soon, at this rate. Shockingly, SpikeDislike2 is actually one of my LEAST popular OUYA games, which is baffling given how it's also my most popular Mobile game. Bizarre! Perhaps a sign that OUYA is being used as a "proper" console, and that people are expecting things to be a little better than "that crappy spike thing I played on my mobile!" Next up is Blockman vs Hoppy Bobby! The two appear to be fighting for third place, with Blockman getting a few extra hits due to it recently being selected for one of OtakuPunk's OUYA videos, which is nice! Both of these games are good for short bursts, but in both cases, I think they'd probably work better on OUYA if I created a more linear progression system, with saves and what-not. .. Hoppy Bobby 2 could be appearing fairly soon, methinks! And lastly, battling for first and second place, comes BlastTrax and Karl's Tiny Adventure, with Karl having a HUGE number of downloads close to it's release. ...although, the Karl Download Surge appears to have peaked a long time ago, and now BlastTrax has rightly taken the lead again! So, there we have it. Two months, 8 games, 1648 downloads, and plenty of fun! And there's more to come! Over 2014 I'll probably be playing a lot with OUYA dev, in the same way that 2013 has been semi-focused on Android and Touchscreens, and finding interesting control schemes. If you have any particular AGameAWeek favourites that you'd like to see recreated on OUYA, let me know, and I'll look into it! Views 18, Upvotes 6
