I love to play Scrabble.
Mum also loves to play Scrabble.
This coming Mother's Day (this Sunday) me and Mum will probably be spending some time playing Scrabble.
Whenever we play Scrabble IRL, I'm the scorekeeper and dictionary looker-upper.
As much as I enjoy that, my mind's not as quick at adding up all the points as it once was, and it'd be great to have some kind of automated Score-Tracker to do all of that for me.
I keep searching the appstore, but nothing of the sort seems to be available.
Sure, there's tons of "OMG! CHEAT!!!" apps out there, but I don't want to cheat. I just want to be able to add up the scores, and keep track of legal words.
Of course, I've coded this once before, for my LG Cookie phone, but 2009 was a long time ago, and my LG Cookie wasn't long for this earth..
I'd like to recreate the idea of the Scorepad on iOS, so over the next couple of days I'll be hopping back to Monkey, coding this up, and getting it running on my iPad.
If it works well enough, I might look into popping it up onto the AppStore, but I'll have to come up with a way to make it obvious what it's doing, without specifically calling it a "Scrabble" scoreboard, for legal reasons.
Anyhoo, that's what I'm going to attempt over the next couple of days.
I fully expect the plan to fall apart!!
