RSS Test
Blog
31st January 2019
This is a test.
I'm not sure how compatible the new RSS feed is going to be, but if you'd like to try it out in your RSS Reader of Choice, then the url is rss.xml, which is a fairly obvious choice for rss feed urls, I think.
The link has been added down at the very bottom right of the site, and is also tagged in the header, near all those bloomin' icons!
Let me know how it goes.

Generator Tweak
Blog
15th January 2019
A slight tweak to the Maths Maze generator, as it was making some puzzles far far too easy.
I've now added a "20 or above" limit to the goal, which should help increase the difficulty level a little, as the previous day's puzzles all seemed to be a little too simplistic.
I might yet tweak it a bit further to avoid repetition, but for now it's good enough.

Link Janitor
Blog
4th December 2018
Added Link Janitor, named after my AGameAWeek game of the same name.
Link up the lettered pairs without crossing paths. I've not accounted for diagonals, so avoid those. They might be do-able with diagonals, and may be easier or harder, but they're not part of the puzzle, so.. Avoid!!
The previous week's cleaning up of the structure meant that everything was a little easier to work with, today, although I did forget how to use some of my own functions. Previously, I could quickly Page-...

Wordlist Upgrade
Blog
23rd September 2018
A minor update to the way Word Ladder is generated, which has sped the whole thing up by a remarkable amount.
What took about 3 or 4 seconds, yesterday, now only takes around 0.2 seconds.
Optimisation is the key!
Technically, instead of checking each and every word in the list, I first ensured the wordlist was properly alphabetised..
Next I jump through the list in groups of 1500 words, until "over", then do a quick sift between the 1500 chunk of words.
This is the "Normal" way to do wordlists, but...

Zero Progress

30th August 2018
Over on SoCoder, Spinal asked all about my old JMTrackr tool/player.
This is the second time it's cropped up in the past few days, (It was mentioned on Facebook a day or two ago) and it's got me wondering if I should attempt a new version of it for the C++ Framework... and more importantly, for JNKPlat2018.
You can learn more about JMTrackr here.

Although August 13th isn't a significant date in my health matters, it is the date that I wrote this rather lengthy blog post, back in 2012.
It's now become a bit of a tradition for me to post an annual update on this date.

This week, RSKGames is one of very few players who've bothered to take a look at a bland and tasteless Generic Snake clone.
You can Download Generic Snake Game here
@RSKGamesAll the trailers, screenshots and the hype from the devlogs for the generic snake game might have confused the regular readers of the blog what is all the fuss about. I guess the hype was about the story in the generic snake game.Views 166, Upvotes 34

Let's see what @RSKGames thinks of a bland looking ball in a bland looking maze!
You can Download Might of the Balls here.
@RSKGamesOverview: Roll the ball and color more tiles than the AI opponent within the given time limit without falling of the edges. Easily one of the least interesting descriptions of recent months! This game is certainly not the best selling point for AGameAWeek.Views 215, Upvotes 35

With so many games to play, there's oodles of feedback for each.
Let's see what RSKGames thought of this week's game!
@RSKGamesOverview: A fast paced circular bullet hell game. I liked it better than the ''Orbital Projections'' and ''The Trouble with Vents'' which till day I can never play properly. (I had to look both of those games up! I've made too many games!!)Views 222, Upvotes 45

30th June 2018
I haven't really got a goal in mind for this game, yet, and it's currently just a case of "Keep going, and avoid the gunfire".
It's quite fun to play, but there's no real sense of accomplishment.
Tonight and tomorrow will hopefully bring that into place.
Additionally, I'll probably give the player a health bar, since 3 lives really don't last very long in this game!!

Nice Pool Game
Blog
23rd May 2018
There's a nice new pool game available on iOS by @helvetica called Pocket Run Pool. (.com)
People keep asking me on Twitter what it's like, because apparently I'm some sort of super-picky gamer when it comes to Pool games.
My thoughts are that it's a really nice and fully formed "Ball" engine, that feel superb, and doesn't have of the annoying things that I usually tend to pick at when playing a Pool game.
It's almost as if @helvetica's been reading my many rants about rub...
