AGameAWeek teaches us one thing. Some games you win, some games you lose. When you lose, there's not a lot you can do. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and move on. This is a post about how I threw myself on the ground.

The other day I played another of those Fire Escape style games. You know the ones. They started on the Game&Watch and got remade over and over. <img src="https://AGameAWeek.com/complete/Juggler_20110606_Logo_thumb.png">

54 games. Last year I only managed about 30-odd, so I think that's pretty good going. Sure, it might not have truely actually been A Game "Per" Week, but I did at least keep the ratio up. If I hadn't taken the time out to build the framework, I probably would've actually achieved the target a little better The stats show I was pretty much on top of things up until that point, but then things got slower and slower until my buffer zone was all dried up. Anyhoo, this is a nice big lengthy re...

In true "Better late than never" style, Apple got their act together exactly 7 days after I uploaded the game. That might be fast for a massive company like Apple, but it's a long long time in the world of AGameAWeek! No matter, the game's up and running, and you can buy it at the AppStore for 59p! Bargain! Now that I know I'm not breaking things, I'll be having a wee bit more fun with the iPhings, but worry not. AGAW will still be here, and I'll still be making plenty of freebie games for you. No...

Stuck between two side limits, fly your ship back and forth, and shoot all the baddies. At the minute, the baddies only consist of the spike thing from the WarioWare game, but I'm going to start adding proper baddies tomorrow...

Mailbag! Blog

August 26th 2009 That's the last time I did a Mailbag post! Blinkin' eck! Over the past 6/7 months, I've occasionally dipped into the mailbag and plucked out little snippets, but I figured it was about time I did a proper one. A few of these have already been posted, but there's a whole batch of new ideas here. Let's go!!! (There's a lot!!)

Centipong has been wrought with issues since day 56. It's been a bit of a pain, but for a whole bunch of obscure reasons. I'm up to my last day, and I just wanted you folks to expect something slight odd with this release. See, the thing is, as much as this IS Centipong TWO, I didn't really want to tread the exact same path. I've already done Centipong, and Centipong Jr in Java, and Centipong DS as well. And starting this project seemed like a great idea, but it's the exact same t...

Engine's now ready for any and all future word-based games that I might randomly decide to build. The wordlist adds 970Kb to a game's exe when added, and when asked it spends about 100milliseconds hunting through the complete list for a word. Luvly. So, with that out of the way I'm heading back to Centipong. You'd think, about 4 weeks into the whole Framework thing, that things would be more or less finished. You'd be wrong. There's LOADS of stuff that I've still not do...

As well as all the 12 Games of Xmas (starting Friday) I've finally got around to opening up BlitzMax, and getting that whole new system going. Plenty to do, and it'll probably kill the whole point of my Xmas Week Off, but no matter.. Lots to do, let's hop to it. First up, I want everyone who can be bothered to try this out. It's a couple of little programs that stress tests your system, and tries to draw as many things onscreen at once as it possibly can. Or, at least, as fast as BlitzMax can!! Ru...

Awww.. I was thinking of doing some sort of fruit machine thing, but I didn't really have any kind of plan for it, so it didn't really get off the ground. Poor thing. Maybe this week for that? Or the RPG! Oops, forgot about that! It's getting the Patent Wars treatment!

Nope, not yet. We'll call it "On Hiatus", whilst I decide what to do next. Meanwhile, I'm not sure whether to bother with Flash. Or at least, not Flex, anyway. 'cos BOY, that shit's messy! 6 includes to get a square flying around a screen?! No thanks!! hAxe is moderately better, but I'm still not 100% sure about it. After that there's SoThink Quicker, which I downloaded a demo for, but couldn't run the demo because apparently I installed the demo on my system in May, and point blank forgot...

Another nice subtle title for Google to pick up, along with the odd sprinkles of text within. Last time we posted LG Cookie KP500 Java J2ME Free Games to Download *cough* we had the following 3 games. #1. Hangman #2. Slots #3. TensionSheet This week, there's 3 more Free Games for LG Cookie to be played with. #4. Ball Push #5. Tic Tac Toe #6. Matrix Blaster They're basically.. #4 : Ball Push Get the ball into the hole. Tap close = fast, tap further = slower. #5 : Tic Tac Toe ...

A nice quicky, this week. Having spent most of the week doing DIY, sorting out Socoder, and occasionally working on PRC2 when I get a chance, I've not had much time for a game, this week.. So, I did what all frantic coders do. I threw loads of colour on the screen, and hid the fact that I haven't done much work this week No levels.. As you move, pellets will replenish. No power pellets, either, so no eating up the ghosties.. Just You, Pe...

Yesterday was spent getting Sokoban to work in BlitzBasic for Windows. It ended up reasonably well, but there's a few things that should be tweaked, including one persons complaint that bundling all 600+ levels into a single pack kinda kills the fun of it.. A dull trek through a long list of simple levels before you even touch on the slightly more difficult levels, does not a fun game make. So, I'll split them back up into their seperate packs, and give folk a nice selectable menu system.
