11th December 2011
Yesterday was the #Indievisibility awards ceremony, which involved a bunch of indie guys, a pub, a brawl and a number of teabags.
Awards were given for all manner of things.. Different genres, games with certain features and other seemingly random reasons.
You can scan through a list of all the <a href="https://www.sizefivegames.com/2011/12/11/indievisibilty-end-of-year-awards-results/">Awards here,</a> and read all about the joys of the fight!
Awesome!

54 games. Last year I only managed about 30-odd, so I think that's pretty good going.
Sure, it might not have truely actually been A Game "Per" Week, but I did at least keep the ratio up.
If I hadn't taken the time out to build the framework, I probably would've actually achieved the target a little better
The stats show I was pretty much on top of things up until that point, but then things got slower and slower until my buffer zone was all dried up.
Anyhoo, this is a nice big lengthy re...

That's the last time I did a Mailbag post!
Blinkin' eck!
Over the past 6/7 months, I've occasionally dipped into the mailbag and plucked out little snippets, but I figured it was about time I did a proper one.
A few of these have already been posted, but there's a whole batch of new ideas here.
Let's go!!! (There's a lot!!)

Dungeon Badger!!!
Blog
18th February 2010
When I first started to think of "A game that uses Badges" the name "Dungeon Badges" stuck in my head, and slowly but surely evolved into Dungeon Badgers.
Over the course of the week (during which I was finishing off Centipong 2) the idea had evolved to include a garden, a house, a cat, and of course.. mushrooms and... arrghh! A snake!
Today's post is a brief description of the game that was in my head, before it got thrown out and replaced with an idea that could be drawn a wee bit quicker!

The titlescreen of future games requires many things.
1. Title of Game
2. Credits
3. Highscores
4. Instructions
5. Menu
Individually they can all be nice and small, but put together, they tend to make things super-crazy! Especially when they're all equally fighting to attention.
Welcome to Framework Titlescreen Version 0.3

Trying to add puzzle elements into a shoot-em-up never seems to work out as well as the idea in your head.
I should know that by now!
And yet, this week, that's what I tried to do.

Here's what's done.
1. Characters
2. Main character
3. Map/Towns/Layout
4. Fight Definitions (xml with fights in it!)
5. Fight Music
6. Random placements of enemy and pickup.

9. Opening of fights (ie, that bit where it transitions from game to fight..)
<img src="https://socoder.net/uploads/1/4guys.png">
Quite a lot, and yet there's a whole lot more left to do.
1. The actual fight code that takes the xml, and makes fights out of it.
2. Overworld musi...

I'd better get this game done, this week! It's getting a wee bit unruley. I need to pull in the ideas a bit and just get the game finalised.
Today I've been playing with the map again.

Let's throw out the spam, and get started.

Sheriff Munky
Blog
30th September 2008
This week, I haven't entered the Wednesday Workshop. Instead I had a try at the Monthly one (#013), which asked us to create a game with lots of guns, and bullets and shootyness.
Since I'd already done a decent enough shooter the other day (H~S) I decided to try my hand at something a little different.

<a href="https://socoder.net/?Workshop=Challenge&Week=162">Wednesday Workshop #162</a> asked for folk to create a game with a big-ass timer.
My entry was simple.
Open a vault, Grab the loot, Run for your life, Drive to escape, have a gunfight, sorted!
All with a timer in the corner, and all played with the mouse.

The game's mostly all Left clicks, but the short driving scene requires you to right click occasionall...
