There's more to add, but things are getting crowded on the poor old DS! Before I decide whether to add powerups or not, I need to know if folk can handle the game as it is. The result of this test will be either. A) People are happy with this. They'll play it for ages, and love it as it is.. or B) People want more! They ask, and I cram i...

hmmm.... Blog

In many ways, I preferred doing AGameAWeek. Mostly because I'd actually have something to post here at least once a week! As it is, I'm finding it hard to come up with interesting things to post during my little hiatus. Perhaps I should start posting silly Youtube links every day? Rather than splitting my blog off into 100 different sites, just clump it all together into one? *shrugs* Its an idea, right!?

54 games. Last year I only managed about 30-odd, so I think that's pretty good going. Sure, it might not have truely actually been A Game "Per" Week, but I did at least keep the ratio up. If I hadn't taken the time out to build the framework, I probably would've actually achieved the target a little better The stats show I was pretty much on top of things up until that point, but then things got slower and slower until my buffer zone was all dried up. Anyhoo, this is a nice big lengthy re...

... FFS, I can't count. FiftyFOUR weeks, FiftyFOUR games. Even with a miscount, I still managed to equal the weeks:games ratio. Lovely stuff! Here's the stats, straight from GoogleDocs and here's a great big blue and red google graph, looking all lovely and linely! Yeay!

Fred is a happy Flea, and he loves to hop. He especially loves it when all the Dandelions are casting their seeds around in the air, as he can grab on, and go for a ride.

Kept the random title.. It'll do! Not sure if it works better as "Kee, Bo and Ard", or just "Kee Bo Ard", but either way, here we have it! Kee, Bo and Ard must all be guided through the maze. They have to collect all the pickups, and once they're all done, you can progress to the next level. Hit Z/X to switch between character...

Awww.. A missed week. They're quite rare, nowadays, but there we go. If Apple could get their act together, I could've said "Y2:W48 : Cardagain iPod", but.. guess that's not happening any time soon. Nearly a whole week since I submitted my game, and still no feedback at all. SUCKS.. So, what HAVE I been doing this week?

This one didn't really turn out, so well. It's a nice nature based bee game, with lovely floaty music, and some words. You hit Tab to highlight the flower/bee, type it's unscrambled word into Barry's Belly, then hit return. It's probably due to the sweltering heat, but my mind's not been very active today, and I've been really slow at getting anything done. I got quite a lot of Barry the Spelling Bee done, and then decided to do a little work on Cardagain. But, boy, that got messy. First off, I tried playing a bit of title music. That just plain didn't happen!! After 2 hours, I scrapped the idea of title music! Next up, the menu got half complete, and I figured I should add load/save mechanism for tha...

I'm definitely sticking to that 90 minute thing, it's just that, right now, you can't see it!! Yesterday I fixed up a few things over at Socoder.net. I added a nice upload gallery on the right, and fixed up a few little annoying bugs that needed tweaking. Then, at 10pm, I decided to make a new game. And the game went well. And the game got done. And I was happy! (Note, this is 2 90-minute sessions!) At the start of the game, I considered redoing it for the iPod, so I took the tim...

I've not done my "90 minute" challenge again, today. Well, I did spend about 6 hours figuring out the iPod development stuff, but that wasn't the point of the 90 minute thing, really, was it!? Anyhoo, no matter. There's a silly "Vuvuzela Hero" picture going around the net, and I think it started (URL "https://blog.gaborit-d.com/vuvuzela-hero-legend-of-africa/">right here), although I'm not 100% sure. If you're a regular, you've probably played my stupid Cowbell Hero game, and I figured.. why no...

OK, so I finally got my DevLicense, and the first thing I did was to slap the test engine onto my iPod Touch. If you've tried that, you'll probably found exactly the same thing that I did. ...that, rather than going "Weeee!" it went "... plod... plod..." at about 2 frames a second. This is not a good thing. Today I've been experimenting with all kinds of things. I've figured out how to draw images to a "buffer", and then have that buffer be one of our UIImageView things, so that it...

WarioWare is cancelled, this week!! It's half past midnight, and 90 minutes in, Tuesday's 90-minute-game isn't going to quite fit into the amount of time I'm going to be awake!!! I'm half asleep, already, and when you start spotting typing errors in your code, you know it's time to sleep. So, I'll finish this off in the morning. Then it's time to activate my lovely iPhing Developer's License, and see what fun garbage I can come up with. So, um.. Yeah, probably won't have time to do anything Wari...

When I was a kid, I used to love playing quiz games. Blockbusters, Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, loads of great 8/16-bit quiz games. They all had one thing in common.. They let you actually TRY to answer them. Nowadays, it seems that every damn quiz, even Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, has become a stupid sodding Multiple Choice quiz, where you don't have to think, and type.. Instead resorting to a "Buzz - Pick one" style of gameplay that really ruins the whole game for me.. Bloody things. So, Might...

This week we're playing with Penises! A remake of a classic test game, that never really went anywhere. The game is only about half done, since I pretty much rushed the whole thing yesterday, but it has 10 nice levels, and should hopefully be a good start. Click the penises to turn them around, and put their little hats on t...

Aaaah, lovely weather! As Dan Bull sang this week, it's wonderful weather for gaming, and even better if the game is Scrabble! And that's about all I've done. Alongside animating this weeks main character and drawing my default ground tiles, I've not really done a whole lot. The game is due on Tuesday. Wish me luck!!

Nearly two whole years in, and you'd have thought that more people would've taken notice of the guy making AGameAWeek. I've moaned before about lack of interest, and I go in and out of these little phases.. It doesn't hurt, it's just a little saddening when there's not much interest. This week, we've hit another "Wha!?" point. Having finally got the Mac, and released no less than TEN entire Mac games within a week, I've had the lowest number of visits all year!! Wha...

With all the Mac stuff, I've not had a chance to do a new game. NOOoooooo!!!!!! I suppose I could rush something in the next 24 hours, but I'm much rather be playing with those extra trimming, and getting things a little nicer. First off, Gravity Bombs. Not touched it yet, but it definitely needs at least one tweak. .. the Mac's "Superior" (bah) Magic Mouse has a lot going for it, but it also has an inability to right click whilst holding down the left mouse button. Which is pretty much a require...

(note, this is a bit waffley, and tends to jump about from point to point!!) Today I've been working on the editor. It's been a bit of a challenge, trying to think of every little think you might use, and also the keys for all of it, but I think it's coming along quite well. Draw with the mouse to draw, left for the selected tile, right for blank. WASD will scroll the screen around E picks the tile under the mouse Q allows you to draw a rectangle using either Left or Right mouse butt...

No release yet, it's nearly ready, but still so far away! Not to worry, it's Platdude's month, so let's carry on. By the end of this month there'll be a PC version, and a Linux version, too. That's hopefully apparent by now. What I've not mentioned, yet, is my hopes to recreate this game onto other platforms. So let's talk about that, now.
