Spent most of last night playing with this Javascript Mod Player which seems nice and functional.

In the new framework, audio tests are going ahead. An mp3 can stream, and play, and even stays in memory for repetition or restarts when the game is restarted. The mp3 can be paused, the mp3 can be set to loop. This is all good. Moreso, I've coded the ability for different mp3s to play for different games, and perhaps even different tracks per level. The browser will grab the mp3 as needed, and will play it. This is all good!! Yeay! .. Except...

Oh boy, was yesterday complicated!!

I can't seem to get back into a "normal" AGameAWeek flow. Which is an odd thing to say, given I've released 6 games in the past couple of weeks.

Starting from Hex-Tile 1, place the numbers in a route from 1 to 24 in order, moving 1 tile along, each time. You can play Play Rikudo here or they'll show up in standard Foldapuz

Today will be without a release, but there's not been an "AGameAWeek proper" for a long time, so I don't think anyone's going to be too disappointed by that fact! But what of the rest of the week?

I can't find the fun in "Car vs Traffic Cones". .. not even Mutant Killer Cones could save this game!

Game scrapped

I spent a good few hours trying to figure out why my MacMini wasn't connecting to the net. I mean, it WAS, but it seemed much slower than usual.

I'm still marginally hopeful that I can make something fun from the car thing. Right now it's still extremely bland and dull, but I think with a few tweaks, I can manage to get something gamey out of it. I think!

It's nothing too tricky, and you won't struggle to play it. The simple classic game of Hangman. Tap the letters, fill in the blanks, and try to guess the words or phrase. You can Play Hangman in the Shoebox where you'll find it in amongst the Word Games.

I didn't get ANY coding done on this week's AGameAWeek yesterday, but then a lot of that was down to an unexpected server issue.

But, a little more organised juggling, this time.

Spent a few hours, yesterday, getting a very basic looking car to drive around a very basic looking grassland. (and/or, blue space with stars in it, acting like a flat driveable area!)

Yesterday was spent making an Pixel/Sprite doodling thing for Petit Switch. With that, JMTrackr and the default audio files, I'm fairly sure I can now get a decent number of games up and running.

The default pixel-sprite editor for PetitSwitch Scroll around the left-side (full spritesheet) with the left thumbstick, draw in the right hand "zoomed" view (you can zoom in further) with touchscreen or mouse. Controls for colours, but the palette doesn't save. .. Booo! Plenty of twiddly knobs and buttons, barely any of which I have the faintest idea what they're doing. A to plot, B to pick colour.. .. Except.. The dpad doesn't move the cursor.. In fact, NOTHING moves the cursor. In...

I need to organise things a little better. As fun as it is, churning out the PetitGames, the Shoebox is getting ignored. And as nice as it is, piling on the Shoebox Games, the Foldapuz site's being forgotten.. And as much as I want to get Foldapuz games done... .. I haven't done AGameAWeek in bloomin ages!!! I think I need to make myself a proper schedule, and ... try to stick to it!

We all know what happens if I leave a game for a week.. I find it very hard to get myself back into the swing of things. I need something a little more immediate to pop into the Shoebox, because.. at this rate.. it'll be mid July before The Quest is ready!! "Oh, I know," says my silly head, "what about Hangman?"

With JMTrackr "done, enough" for Petit Switch, I can now happily move on to actually making games on the thing. I've made a quick list of things I should attempt, today.
