The Amiga was nearing the end of its life cycle and my local Game store was slowly getting rid of its Amiga stuff. It was sad to find all your favourite games crammed into that little corner of the store where only the geekiest kids would huddle. Then one day, I spotted a bright blue stripy box. "Blitz 2.0!??? Oooh! I'd been using AMOS ever since I got it free on an Amiga Format coverdisk, but this was finally a chance to buy a fully fledged programming language. I whipped it up. .. I say that. ...

I'm at odds over this one. The first possible launch date is Feb 23rd. Feb 23rd is my birthday, and for the last two years, has also been SpikeDislike=FREE Day on iOS. It'd be nice to have SpikeDislike2 Day on the same day, but then I'd also need to get it onto the AppStore by that date, and ... that's a wee bit tricky! It'd mean I'd have to get the iOS App submitted by around about this time next week, and .. yikes. that's cutting it a bit close, especially considering I...

The basic idea is this... A ...

2013 Framework
13th January 2013
As I continue to build up the new Monkey-based framework, I have a lot of things to test, and get working. As most of you have noticed, I tend to forget things, like "hey, your game doesn't quit when I hit Alt+F4!???.. That little thing took years for me to bother to implement!! In order to build the best framework that I can, I'll be needing pokes and prods along the way. I also need a fair number of testbeds, to try out everything on. If you'd like to join in, stick your name below. Yo...

I'm a game developer, who usually spends about 16-or-more hours, per day, sat in front of a computer screen. I'm 32 years old. You would probably imagine that, given both those facts, I've been through a fair number of laptops, over the years. The truth is, I've never owned a laptop! Wha...!!?? Heck, even my little sister, hater of 95% things technological, has been through three laptops! But there it is. I never leave the house, so why bother with a system I can take outside? Forget that! Gimme...

It seems that, since coming out of hospital, there's been a multitude of great things that I seem to be looking forward to. New Doctor Who, new Red Dwarf, new iPhone, new Wii and then all the great shows that I'd missed whilst I was stuck in hospital, too! It's like a great big bucket of hype, and it keeps on coming. As a developer, I'm going to have to buy a new iDevice, to ensure all my games work in the all-new quirky widescreen resolution. I'll be going for an iPod Touch, mostl...

It's been over a year since the Platdude Retro Advent Collection had a bizarre game with a ball and some spikes in it, and as much as I've attempted to get on with other games, that one little game keeps on getting dragged back out again! Last week, SpikeDislike won an IndieVisibility award, for being the best game to have with you on the toilet! This week, the guy who nominated it for that award has written a great big sprawling mass of text, all about SpikeDislike! (Link no longer available) ...

Today's been total utter chaos. I wrote a bunch of little Badges (Awards?!) the other day, so I've spent today trying to wrangle the code together so that they actually work. See inside for some oddly missing information.

At the moment, I'm sending occasional beta editions of NeonPlat Adventures to two people. One is AuthenticKaizen (/PixelProspector). He got instant beta-status, because he started the whole NeonPlat thing. This is all his fault!! I've been sending him little hidden youtube clips, occasional "New Stuff!" screenshots, and discussing possibilities with him. The other is Spinal (/Spinal Cord) who recently redid SpikeDislike as Nintendo DS Homebrew. Spinal and I tend to think and code the same. ...

Had a day out, today. I rarely go out anywhere, since there's feck all in town anymore. 95% of the shops in Bolton Town Center are mindnumbingly shit, unless you feel the need to visit a charity shop. The shops I used to visit are, in order of visits..

The other day I suggested that a new set of AGameADay might be in order, since I'm totally stuffed for ideas, lately. Out of ideas, make the requirement more.... Sure, that makes sense, right?! Anyhoo, today I spent . um.. all day.. doing yet another one of those Framework things that I apparently love to do. This time I used PlayMyCode.com, and the resulting menu/score/game thing has actually worked out quite nicely. First game, Chase The Block, a simple chasey game. Created (using PlayMyCode....

I'm out of ideas. I ran out about midway through Advent, and I think finishing that off has sapped every last ounce of ideaness out of my poor little head. So, in order to continue to do AGameAWeek, I'm going to have to start doing things in a slightly different way. I thought about this for a while, yesterday, and it does seem slightly plausible, if a little dumb! <a href="https://AGameAWeek.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/Cassette_50_K7_Cascade_Games_1985_Standard_Jewel_Case_-_Front.jp...

54 games. Last year I only managed about 30-odd, so I think that's pretty good going. Sure, it might not have truely actually been A Game "Per" Week, but I did at least keep the ratio up. If I hadn't taken the time out to build the framework, I probably would've actually achieved the target a little better The stats show I was pretty much on top of things up until that point, but then things got slower and slower until my buffer zone was all dried up. Anyhoo, this is a nice big lengthy re...
