A couple of days ago I posted my first test compilation of a Mac game. I asked for test-based feedback, and absolutely nobody responded, whatsoever. We're just going to have to go for the "Worked on mine, *shrugs*" approach for these!! Today, I'm rereleasing the game from Wednesday with a quick fix, and also releasing a bunch of other games that I've written in BlitzMax. We've also got JNKPlat and Gravity Bombs to come, but I want to tweak those a little before I rerelease them. Anyway, here's ...

It's Platdude Time! Guide Platdude through 45 puzzling platform levels, dodging darts, fleeing flames and always being mindful of mines! A nice and easy game, with more buttons than you'd probably care for. Cursors to move, Z to hold, X to jump left, C to jump right, and V for one single purpose!! How many levels can yo...

I completely forgot about those little mines, and the TNT Plunger based mines, too! Then getting them all working on Travellators, too. Plenty of work.

No release yet, it's nearly ready, but still so far away! Not to worry, it's Platdude's month, so let's carry on. By the end of this month there'll be a PC version, and a Linux version, too. That's hopefully apparent by now. What I've not mentioned, yet, is my hopes to recreate this game onto other platforms. So let's talk about that, now.

Mailbag! Blog
18th March 2010
August 26th 2009 That's the last time I did a Mailbag post! Blinkin' eck! Over the past 6/7 months, I've occasionally dipped into the mailbag and plucked out little snippets, but I figured it was about time I did a proper one. A few of these have already been posted, but there's a whole batch of new ideas here. Let's go!!! (There's a lot!!)

A great little platformer, this week, albeit one without an end! Well, there is an end, but I'm not 100% sure anyone will reach it. Having said that, I'm probably not the world's best person to ask about that. I suck at playing! Anyhoo...

Because there may or may not have been resulting copyright issues, I've left this post on the backburner until the magazine went off the shop shelves. Usually I'd happily scan in a bit of a page if my games are mentioned, but this time it's a whole entire page, and that's a completely different kettle of fish. (Although, to be fair, I've wr...

This week a suggestion from Authentic Kaizen, who suggests having a neon styled platform game, with bubble bobble style components. The game has taken a few turns during the week, changing from spike induced terror, a game with a frog like creature, and a whole lot more besides! It now appears to be settling down quite nicely into some kind of obscure chaos. Hurray for chaos!! Coming Tuesday : NeonPlat!

*phew* Just about!!! Munky Blocks DS, a complete remake of the original that can even make use of the level files from the PC edition, but also adds in a little mix of "Munky's Block" levels, too. In the end, it's turned out as a lovely little game, but BOY was that a rushed ending! Missing a day didn't help things, and the entire editor (top to bottom) had to be coded yesterday!! Surprised I even man...

The last time we tried Munky Blocks we had 1 munky and many blocks. Munky had to collect the blocks, piece them together to form coloured areas, and blammo, they vanished. This time, we only have one block. Munky needs to pick up that block, and place it on top of the red button, to open up the red exit, and then he can leave. A simple enough concept, but one that took so long to build I didn't really have time to build a decent set of levels. A shame. <a href="https://AGameAWeek.com/complete/M...

First things first, here's this week's AGameAWeek game. I've done a few dozen "Get the Greens" before, so I figured I'd keep this one short. Simply put, get the greens, and avoid the holes. No enemy this time, just you and the floor, so if you're nice and gentle you could probably get quite far through and score a decent score. As it stands, my highscore is currently 15 points. .. So, not a super-high-scoring game, but definitely one you could beat me at! Since I've made...

Yesterday was spent getting Sokoban to work in BlitzBasic for Windows. It ended up reasonably well, but there's a few things that should be tweaked, including one persons complaint that bundling all 600+ levels into a single pack kinda kills the fun of it.. A dull trek through a long list of simple levels before you even touch on the slightly more difficult levels, does not a fun game make. So, I'll split them back up into their seperate packs, and give folk a nice selectable menu system.

Platdude Retro Collection 2

I've had it in my desk's cupboard for years. I bought the game not long after my original Playstation broke, thinking I'd pick up a PSX cheap somewhere.. I never did. And, I never bought a PS2, or a PSP, or PS3, or anything else that could play it. Over the years, I've tried it on Various emulators, only to have them spit it out, and die.. And yet I kept it, hoping to eventually play it some day. Yesterday I finally DID! And it's a cracking game. A wonderful piece of music based gaming, all nice a...

This week, Socoder's Wednesday Workshop (#163) challenge was to create a game with Money in it. I initially was going to create a top-down dungeon romp, but as the plan grew and grew in scale, I scrapped it and just ended up making a nice quick platformer instead! ?? Mr Money Grabber features you rushing through the level collecting all the coins...
