18th August 2018
Level editing was such a simple plan, at the start, but with every little thing I tweak, the whole process gets more and more complicated!

I think I'm probably over complicating things in my head, but the many different things I need to implement into a simple editor are getting quite silly, now!

I think I've managed to write the new JNKPlat controller code in such a manner that the main menu can now have a fairly simple option to reconfigure them depending on your preferred controller.

Although August 13th isn't a significant date in my health matters, it is the date that I wrote this rather lengthy blog post, back in 2012. It's now become a bit of a tradition for me to post an annual update on this date. Other Jiggity Posts The posts are given the title "Jiggity", because my original post was titled "Home Again, Home Again, Jiggity Jig"! *shrugs* It's a handy keyword when searching for these health posts.

Saturday came and went, and I was supposed to spend Sunday getting back to coding Centipong again, but that didn't happen. Instead, I spent some more time looking into the possibility of bundling Future AGameAWeek games together into a single .exe

I was doing the compiles for this week's game late last night, and as I sat in front of the Mac I figured I might as well try to do the trailer on there.

"I know", says I, "I'll write tomorrow's SoCoder newsletter now, so that I don't have to do it in the morning, and can instead get right back to doing the important coding!" Nope.. Instead I was up until 3:30am doing the newsletter, and then didn't wake up until after 10, thus completely losing all the time I'd managed to save! D'oh!

A couple of days ago, I posted this short "Trailer Template". (YouTube) @RSKGames has commented! A bit more information text message in the video about the number of levels and goal of the game would have been nice.

@RSKGames

A very relaxing puzzle game with right mixture of difficulty with 225 levels. Crikey. He's only gone and completed the entire game!!

I have NO IDEA how it happened, but at some point yesterday, the face on my Misfit Phase cracked. I must've hit it, or something, but I really can't remember doing that. Hmmm..

Spent all day trying to work out a nice way to generate these kinds of puzzles, and I'm fairly certain that the current method works to within a decent standard. The general gist will be that you need to walk out a path between the two similar coloured blobs, and that links them up. A typical colour-path sort of thing. As stated earlier, I've worked hard to get the level generator to come up with the most fiendish levels possible, but it also makes some nice simpler levels that can be used to...

The repointers are nearly done with the larger side wall, and will be starting on the back wall either later today, or tomorrow. The noise is still echoing through my head, and I'm still finding it extremely difficult to code. But it's nearly over. Unfortunately, game code is still coming along at a slow pace.

This week's game is currently alarmingly difficult. With all the little bats floating around inside the cramped space, it can be extremely difficult to make simple moves without getting caught out.

Spent most of today trying to find the right feel for the controls. I'm still not 100% happy with them. Although they feel ok with the tapping of keyboard keys, they feel totally wrong when trying to play with a DPad, which is odd, because I tend to think of those two things as being very much the same thing. Anyhoo, other than that, the game seems to be coming along nicely, although I've yet to add anything new into the mix. I'm currently trying to think of interesting ways to add a bit m...
