Two years ago, I was riding high. I was preparing to launch the biggest and (IMHO) best EVER version of SpikeDislike. SpikeDislike3 was due to be, without a doubt, one of my most important releases EVER. I'd put months of work into it, and if anyone knows me, they know that that's a HUGE amount of effort from me. It was ready, it passed Apple Review, it launched, and then I released the Android one. All was good! All was golden!! \o/hurray for mobile gaming\o/

Each July I have to pay my ?79.00 to keep dev'ing for iOS. My previous game was SpikeDislike3, which I launched in June 2015. The latest iOS release was (URL "https://itunes.apple.com/app/quadoban/id1258518067">Quadoban... today.) That means I've actually gone 2 whole entire PAID years (2015-2016 and 2016-2017) without releasing a single thing on iOS. That's rather alarming... :

You know when you release a game, then sit in bed playing it, and suddenly realise you forgot to switch off a little toggle? Doesn't matter, nobody'll notice it.. Feel free to guess what it was, though!

Rollyblob has been released, and not everyone's happy. I thought I should make today's blog a bit of a "How it came to be what it is" tale.

Oh dear, that hasn't gone down very well, has it?! Hmm.. First up came the issue with the Level Generator. Things seemed to break fairly late in the project, meaning that different systems were generating different sets of levels. For this reason, the online scoreboards were removed, as they'd be impossible to properly compare between all the different level sets. Doing test after test after test, right up until the last minute, led me to accidentally upload a broken version of the game. .. And no...

If you've downloaded RetroRaider-3 at any point today, you might want to re-download the game. Whilst stress testing my level generator, I accidentally left a few "quirks" in there, including a cheat mode, and a "feature" that locks the game up and doesn't let you play. Ooops.. A fix has been uploaded, so if you're stuck with the broken version, you should go and grab the new one. The broken version sees the current level end if you hit the V key, and the whole game lock up if you try to load levels...

I'm getting near to the goal, now. The game seems to have a good feel, and I spent about 20 minutes last night ensuring that every single one of the 81 (9x9 grid) levels would generate without any crazy array-out-of-bounds errors.

Waiting...

For the past day and a half, my laptop's fan's been kicking off like crazy. Watching Task Manager, it was all down to Windows Modules Installer Worker, working away in the background, killing all CPU, Memory and Disk access for what must've been about 12 hours in total.

Each week, people share their thoughts with my games, and I like to make little community topics where I can answer/comment on their comments! It's a comment-o-rama!

@TimeKillerGames

I find a little more effort could be put in to the title screens of some of your more recent games. Why not do what you used to do, and add a little more visuals of some kind to it?
