Spent most of yesterday working on a completely different choon.
-=-=-
My phone charger is on the other side of my bedroom. I should probably move it closer to my bed, but the iPad's there, and nobody ever phones me (I'm always available via other online methods) so it isn't really all that important to have the phone charging by the bedside.
Except this week I've been expecting a phone call, so the phone's been on my bedside cabinet, and hasn't been charging.
As a result, the phone had a whinge at me, yesterday morning. The battery at possibly the lowest it's ever been.
To be fair, it actually lasted about 3 or 4 days, but I think that says more about how little I use it, than it does the iPhone 12 Pro's battery!
A little ditty darted around in my head, and I ended up writing an entire ALChoon, to suit the situation. Still no recorded audio for it, but I reckon a few mobile phone blips and beeps would do the trick, right?!
But which one will be released, tomorrow? The one I made yesterday, or the one that was already started over the weekend?
I'm really not sure.
Find out tomorrow!!!
Oh, no, wait.. It's Wednesday. Find out today, then, I guess!
Better get that done then, huh?
For today's lyrics, I wrote the first verse and the chorus, and then let Claude.ai generate the rest.
The Udio one is ... certainly something!! > Reveal 🔎
[Verse 1]
I don't know which tune
will be finished, today.
I've got two half started,
It could go either way.
[Chorus]
I've got two songs that are incomplete.
Neither one is finished.
I need to get one done, this week.
Or else my stats diminish.
[break]
[Verse 2]
Stuck in indecision,
Melodies in my head.
One's about lost love,
The other 'bout my bed.
[Chorus]
I've got two songs that are incomplete.
Neither one is finished.
I need to get one done, this week.
Or else my stats diminish.
[Bridge]
But wait! Here's a third one,
About not finishing two.
It's coming together,
Who knew this would do?
[break]
[Final Chorus]
I had two songs that were incomplete,
Now I've got a new one.
It's about not finishing the other two,
And somehow, it got done!
[break]
[Outro]
So here's to the songs left unsung,
The tunes that got away.
Sometimes the path to completion
Takes an unexpected way.
In the end, creativity flows,
In its own sweet time.
And writer's block becomes the muse
For this silly rhyme.
[Dave is staring glumly at a large digital display on the wall, showing the number "1". Green is sitting on the couch, sipping a latte.]
Dave: [sighing] One sale, Greenie. One measly sale of BurrowOffice. My dreams of spreadsheet domination are crumbling faster than a stale biscuit.
Green: Well, Dave, maybe it's time to face reality. Not every idea can be a winner, you know.
Dave: But this was supposed to be my magnum opus! My Philesplitter 2.0!
Green: Maybe you could think about making Philesplitter 2.0 instead? It even worked on Punched Cards. That's a definite unique selling point that people can't argue with.
Dave: [glumly] Yeah, but does it have VR rabbits with numbers on their heads? I think not.
Green: Maybe that's a good thing?
[Scene Two]
Int. Dave's apartment - Evening
[Dave is pacing, clutching a can of Coke. Green watches from the couch.]
Dave: Maybe if I add more features? Like, I don't know, a Coke-powered calculator?
Green: Dave, remember what happened last time you mixed Coke with your code? You ended up in a hospital bed.
Dave: But Greenie, I can't just give up! I'm not a quitter!
Green: You're always quitting. What about that hospital job? You quit that after an hour.
Dave: [defensively] I wasn't prepared to write software that could literally impact people's lives.
Green: It was a program to organise nurses shifts, Dave.
Dave: Yeah, but what if a patient needed a specific nurse, and they weren't on that shift that day? It's too much power to have in your hands, Greenie.
[Scene Three]
Int. Dave's apartment - Late night
[Dave is slumped on the couch, looking defeated. Green sits beside him.]
Green: Look, Dave, maybe it's time to consider... retirement?
Dave: [gasping] Retirement? Me? But I'm in my prime!
Green: You're in a retirement home.
Dave: But what would I do all day?
Green: I don't know, watch telly? You seemed pretty excited about that Voyager episode you watched last year.
Dave: [perking up] Oh yeah! Maybe I should watch part two.
Green: See? There's more to life than coding and Coke, Dave.
Dave: [thoughtfully] There's always room for cola, Greenie.
Green: That's the spirit!
[End credits roll, featuring Dave excitedly digging out a VHS of Voyager's first episode.]
