OK, I've saved a bunch of values, now I need to figure out what to do with them.
-=-=-
Each line has a Start Millisecs, and a Stop Millisecs.
It can count errors, but also any deletes and corrections.
It can store how many words and keys have been typed and figure out Words Per Minute alongside Keys Per Minute.
(WPM, Errors, Deletes)
It additionally tracks those same values over the total "Level"? "Round"? "Lesson"? I've not worked out the language for this yet.
But I've got numbers.
Lots of numbers.
And numbers can all be fed into the big mixing bowl of numerical chaos and fed back out as a score or a rank or some sort of other value.
Today, I think I'll likely work on what that score/rank/value might end up looking like, both as a value, and stamped onto the end of each line.
Currently it's three unspecified numerical values, but I don't think "normal" people would appreciate those, right?!
People seem to like those "Three Stars" things, right? Should I do those?
Hmmm.
[verse]
Give the player a star or three,
To help them feel they've worked well.
To make them think that they're the best.
And give them lots of encouragement.
[break]
[bridge]
You can do it, I'll tell them all.
Even though I'm not there at all.
A line or two of motivation,
To help bring on the captivation.
-=-=-
[drop][chorus]
Type, Type, Like the star that you are.
You can type very short lines, or paragraphs far.
With every word you make the screen light up.
From all the energy you put into the keys that you tap.
[break]
[bridge]
Feel the flow, let your thoughts unwind,
In every tap, there's a spark you'll find.
I'll cheer you on, from near and afar,
'Cause in this tutorial, you're a typing star.

[drop][chorus]
Type, Type, Like the star that you are.
From short lines to paragraphs far.
With every word, make the screen light up,
From all the energy you put into the keys that you tap.
[Dave is tinkering with some metal panels while Green watches skeptically]
Dave: Just a few more bolts and my decontamination chamber will be complete!
Green: Dave, this isn't Fallout.
Dave: I dunno, Greenie. Have you smelled some of those cabbages outside?
Green: The ones you ruined with your experimental fizzy fertiliser?
Dave: Yeah. They stink.
Green: I can't imagine why that might be.
[Scene Two]
Int. Dave's Bunker - Decon Chamber Area
[Dave is fiddling with a control panel while strange noises emerge from the chamber]
Green: What's that grinding sound?
Dave: Oh, that's just the automated sanitising brushes. And the emergency Coke sprinklers.
Green: The what now?
Dave: It's cool. Everyone will get a good scrub down.
[A mechanical whirring starts up, followed by several concerning clanks]
[Scene Three]
Int. Dave's Bunker - Entrance
[Matt arrives to investigate the commotion]
Matt: Why does it smell like a carbonated car wash in here?
Dave: The decon chamber's working perfectly! Watch!
[Dave pushes a button, and suddenly the entrance fills with foam]
Matt: Is that... cola-scented bubble bath?
Dave: Nope. Just cola.. with added disinfectant properties! I got the idea from that time at the hospital.
[The foam machine starts making concerning noises]
Green: Dave, I don't think it's supposed to make that sound...
[Suddenly, the pressure builds and foam starts shooting everywhere at high velocity]
Matt: David.. I thought you promised less explosions.
Dave: Don't worry Matt, this isn't an explosion. It's a furious flurry of foamy fertiliser! Bring in the cabbages!
