The bit in the Sonic Boss Fight music where it goes "Boom boom boom boom"..
That..
I nicked that idea, yesterday, whilst playing with the BBC Orchestra instrument set, and ended up faffing around with the Timpani.
Spitfire Audio's free BBC Symphony Orchestra is a lovely set of instruments.
It's not the full orchestra. You can buy that from them, too, but at just shy of $1,000 I've instead opted for the free one. And who can blame me.
Anyway, it goes "1-2-3-4,1-2-Boom boom Boom boom, 1-2-3-4,1-2-Boom boom Boom boom"
And from there I layered on some Strings, a nice Marimba, and then sprawled out into other VSTs for the bass and other synths stuff.
It turned out really well, and then I thought about lyrics, and .. Well, it's R, so Rabbit seemed appropriate, and from there I got to the "Oh yeah, I can't get the Emvoice virtual singer to do raps very well, can I" point..
...
Noooo... Don't make me rap...!!
...
So, I pushed my own terrifying attempt through ElevenLabs, which does A.I. based vocal replacement, and that helps to hide my horrible voice quite a bit. *phew*
I also added distortion.. Smush all recognition into the ground.
And that's a wrap. (rap)
And you're only getting that little snippet, and it repeats, because...*shudder* I really didn't like doing that.
The finished track should be online later today, but it depends entirely on how much I feel like animating a little rabbit. So, we'll see, I guess.
[verse]
I need to draw a rabbit who is running through a field.
Surrounded by some grass and some daisies.
Hills that tower over him, and valleys down below,
And a sun spot where the rabbit can laze in.
[chorus]
Draw a rabbit. And animate it properly,
Make it nice and fast and hoppily,
As it darts around the meadow.
Such a happy furry fellow.
Add some sunbeams in the air
Through the cloudy skies up there.
And a pond or two below,
Where the rabbit can then go.
[break]
[verse]
I need to draw a rabbit running fast and hopping freely.
And keep the screen quite bare, to I can write the lyrics there.
Then mix it all together, with twirly visuals.
The mix will be quite fun, if I can just get that all done.
[chorus]
Draw a rabbit. And animate it properly,
Make it nice and fast and hoppily,
As it darts around the meadow.
Such a happy furry fellow.
Add some sunbeams in the air
Through the cloudy skies up there.
And a pond or two below,
Where the rabbit can then go.
[Dave is surrounded by empty Coke cans welded together into a makeshift drum kit]
Green: What fresh horror is this?
Dave: My new musical venture! Remember when I tried singing in the vents?
Green: All too well. The fire brigade still mentions it at their Christmas party.
Dave: Well, this time it's different. I've recycled all my cans into percussion!
Green: And you're using baseball bats as sticks?
Dave: Sure am! They can really hammer out a rhythm. Oooh, I wonder what hammers would sound like?
[Scene Two]
Int. Dave's Bunker - Echo Chamber
[Dave is enthusiastically hitting the cans while Green holds his hands over his ears]
Green: Dave, please! The acoustics in here are lethal!
Dave: WHAT? I CAN'T HEAR YOU OVER MY AWESOME DRUMMING!
Green: It's echoing too much, Dave. You need to hit a little bit less energetically.
Dave: ISN'T IT BRILLIANT? THE BUNKER MAKES EVERYTHING SOUND HUGE!
[A particularly loud crash echoes through the bunker]
Green: If I go deaf, I'm sending you the medical bills!
Dave: (can't hear Greenie) IT'S TUESDAY! THIS NEXT ONE'S CALLED 'ODE TO FIZZY DRINKS'!
[Scene Three]
Int. Dave's Bunker - Kitchen Area
[Green is trying to make tea while everything vibrates from the drumming]
Green: This is possibly the worst thing you've ever done. Except maybe a few others I can think of.
Dave: [stopping briefly] At least I'm being creative!
Green: Creative? The mugs are walking themselves off the shelves!
Dave: That's just the natural rhythm of the bunker!
[A can-cymbal crashes to the floor]
Dave: Booosh!!!
Green: Natural rhythm? More like natural disaster!
Dave: Just wait until I add the cola-powered amplification system!
Green: No, Dave. Not louder! It's loud enough...
Dave: I've added a speaker to every individual drum. All we have to do is plug it in!
[Green looks around the room]
Green: There's no plug sockets in here.
Dave: Yeah. Maybe tomorrow.
