This year's Advent Calendar isn't happening. Here's a game.
-=-=-
Over on SoCoder, I opened Drawer 3 on the calendar, and the day's game was the DS game "Fashion Designer"
I didn't expect "Amazing", but if I'm honest I did at least expect to be able to use the stylus to design some fashion.
Yet, in my (admittedly short) amount of time with the game, the only thing I seemed to do was tap on pre-designed swatches, and put bits of pre-made imagery together to fabricate the fashion.
I mean, I can kinda understand the whole "People might draw a penis" thing, but this doesn't feel like that. It more feels like they didn't know quite how best to allow detailed art editing.
Which is a shame, because simple alternatives like drawing a square of repeating texture and have that drawn under the dress/fashion outline, would've worked much better than.
...
Nothing..
..
Is this me complaining about an almost 20 year old "girly" game?
Yeah, it sure is.
...Do better, developers!
Mannequin
Use the head, arms and legs of the Mannequin to design your own amazing artworks.
Be the fashion designer that you never could on the DS!
This particular Foldapuz "puzzle" is best printed out and played with some pens, pencils, crayons, paints, or whatever. Or save the image and use your favourite art package.
Click the Foldapuz image to save / print it.
Or.. Top Tip : Click any of the Magnifying glasses on the Foldapuz site for full-page single-"puzzle" printables.
The Foldapuz Unfolded version is lacking colour options, and isn't really the best tool for doing artsy things!
.. Maybe I should work on that..?

[verse]
Grab a little crayon.
Sketch a pretty hat.
Doodle up a fashion garment,
Prettier than that.
Add a little necklace,
Perhaps a pretty shoe.
Brighten up the mannequin,
I leave it up to you!
[break]
[chorus]
Mannequin, mannequin,
The fashion's your design,
Draw it up, bring it to life,
A masterpiece, divine.
Choose the colours, pick the flair,
Add your style with love and care.
Every time, a work of art,
Let your vision steal the heart!
[break]
[verse]
Create a little fabric,
Patterned, plain, or bright,
Add a swish of colour,
Make it look just right.
Don’t forget the buttons,
Ribbons, bows, and flair.
Give your mannequin a sparkle,
Show it that you care!
[break]
[bridge]
Twirl the colours, spin the style,
Make it yours, go wild a while.
Dream it, draw it, let it shine,
Your creation, one of a kind!
[chorus]
Mannequin, mannequin,
The fashion's your design,
Draw it up, bring it to life,
A masterpiece, divine.
Choose the colours, pick the flair,
Add your style with love and care.
Every time, a work of art,
Let your vision steal the heart!
[Dave's Bathroom. Water is dripping from the shower head. Dave is on the phone]
Dave: Matt! The shower's leaking again!
Matt: Dave... you don't live in my building anymore.
Dave: Oh. Yeah. I forgot about that whole "getting evicted" thing.
Matt: You can't just keep calling me every time something breaks.
Dave: But you're my landlord.
Matt: No, Dave. You bought a house. You're your landlord, now.
Dave: But you're good at fixing things!
Matt: Not my problem, Dave. Try asking Greenie.
Dave: He's not here yet. He's too far away, living all the way at RCHomes.
Matt: Well, if you hadn't have.. ... Everything.. He'd still be just down the hall.
[The house doorbell chimes]
Dave: It's ok, Greenie's here, now.
[Dave puts his phone down and goes to answer the door]
Green: Mornin' [walks in]
Dave: Are you here about the shower?
Green: What?
Dave: You can fix things, right?
Green: Um, I guess. The shower?
Dave: [Leads Greenie up to the bathroom] It's been leaking all night.
Green: Probably just a washer or something.
[Dave stares at the shower]
Dave: I don't know how to fix things. I guess I need a handyman. But you visit most days, so that's ok.
Green: You could call a plumber?
Dave: Or I could organise an elaborate series of pullies with wires and cables and wrenches attached. Then I can ask my computer to fix things.
Green: That's... not how computers work.
[Dave pulls out his phone again]
Dave: OK, what's the plumber's number?
Green: I don't know!
Dave: But... but... You just said..
Green: Yeah, but I don't know any!
Dave: This homeownership thing is rubbish.
Green: You're gonna have to google it or something. I'm sure there's plenty in the local area.
Dave: It's still leaking.
Green: Do you want me to go and google it for you?
Dave: That'd be awesome. You're great at fixing things, Greenie. I'm glad you visited, today!
[End credits roll as Dave attempts to catch drips from the shower with Cola bottle caps while Green googles "emergency plumbers"]
